Could get this

Amazon.com: 4pc. Multi-Color 7 Color LED Interior Underdash Lighting Kit: Automotive

(my kit was similar but only single color - they also offer just a blue kit too for a couple bucks cheaper)

What I did was unplug the lights that are under the dash and remove them (1 screw per assembly) then just took the passenger side harness and a couple scotch locks and tapped in to the wires there (yellow w/white tracer is hot and I just picked one of the blacks for ground) then I just used zip ties to mount the LED tubes under the dash and then under the front seats for the back - and ran all the wires up under the lip of the center console.

Only problem so far is they flicker when they dim instead of just dimming - not sure if its something I did - or if the kit I have doesn't support that or what - I sent their tech support an email asking about it though - its not overly distracting because I'm generally looking out the windshield when it happens.

Could it be that canbus thing? Like when you replace the dome lights?

I know about electrical, I just know I've read that in one place you have to use a canbus bulb and in another you don't. And I remember that canbus is what causes flicker in the headlights/fogs.

Got my first trip of the year planned heading down to North Carolina to visit my buddy - and we're taking our Jeeps out to Portsmouth Island

Portsmouth Island - OuterBanks.com

Quote:
The first thing you'll need to visit Portsmouth Island this way is obviously a 4WD vehicle. There are no paved roads anywhere on the island, so 4WD is essential before even considering getting onboard a ferry.

(I shopped around and found it for $10 somewhere)

That's what I used. Wireless remote lets you dim as much as you want and has more color/pattern options if you care. It also has adhesive on the back of the lights so install is incredibly easy. The lights can be cut to length or lengthened if desired

Psst! Isn't that Smurf Blue?

I like those wheels. I'd love to have some blue on mine. And the hood is pretty sweet, too. Too bad I'm such a cheap bastard!

I did the AC ring/grab handle mod today. I like it.

Technically they call it Mopar Blue... But I think it's certainly close to Cosmos/Hydro Blue

and all the parts on it are apparently prototype Jeep Performance Parts - which means it sounds like Mopar might be getting it to some more aftermarket Jeep bits

Hey Argent - First time checking out your build thread. I've been around the forum for about 8 months now (still in the waiting room though) and recall seeing you in the 2014 Information Thread. StarBrite actually wanted me to check out your build.

I got to tell you that the Hydro Blue looks awesome! First time I saw one in person I was in awe. And it looks like you've done quite a few mods already.

I was looking through some of your posts and I noticed you did some polyfill and other mods to your stereo. Would you mind recapping what you started with and what you've done thus far? I'm getting the Alpine premium sound system with subwoofer as well and I'm interested in hearing your feedback. Thanks!

Hey JeepFan - thanks for stopping in Hydro Blue is quite the head turner I must say

as far as the stereo - I ordered the Jeep with the connectivity group with the Alpine Premium Audio and the 430 (non-nav) head unit. From there I went out and bought a cheap $5 pillow from Target and stuffed the soundbar and the subwoofer enclosures. Then I ordered (2) of the 6" Kicker upgrade speakers from the dealership (sold in pairs) and replaced the soundbar and the front dash speakers with these - when I had the fronts out - I stuffed their speaker boxes with polyfill as well before reinstalling them. All in all I've probably got 1/2 a pillows worth of polyfill left over.

Thanks for the reply. I've heard many people doing the pillow thing with the sound bar and subwoofer. How much, in your opinion, did that help? And how much did the new 6" Kicker speakers help? Wondering if it was a dramatic improvement or just a slight improvement in sound quality.

Also, do you have a part number and cost for the speakers you purchased? And why did you decide to stick with the included subwoofer? Did you feel it was adequate?

Sorry for all the questions.

77KICK10 is the MOPAR part number for the Kicker speakers I think I paid $60/set (so $120 for 4)

I think both the polyfill and the speakers helped the sound of the whole system - even people who have ridden with me have said it sounds better.

As far as keeping the stock sub - its more work than just plug n play to replace it - so it stays for now - however several people have had great success using 8" Alpine Type-R subs because it only requires the same airspace of the stock one - but does require the addition of a small amp - so I'm looking in to that as a possible future upgrade.

and no worries - feel free to ask any questions you want
