2015 Baja Yellow 2dr Build

:welcome:

I thought I would start my build thread.

I ordered my Jeep on 11/11/2014 it arrived at the dealership on 12/19/2014, and I got to take it home on 12/20/2014.

I ordered Wrangler Rubicon Hard Rock 2dr. Six Speed.

Land vehicle Vehicle Car Jeep Tire

With following options:
  • Trailer Tow Group
  • Air Conditioning with Automatic Temp Control
  • Freedom Top Black
  • Engine Block heater
  • Uconnect 730N
If I had to do it over again the only thing I would change is the "Trailer Tow Group" its a waste of money and can be easily installed after market.

When my Jeep arrived at the dealership I got a photo from them showing

The first addition that I did to the Jeep when got home was the
Vehicle Commercial vehicle Transport Car Vehicle door

Antenna X 13", the postman handed it to me while I was looking the Jeep in the garage.

Then I did the door seals protection from Mopar. Picked them up from the dealership several weeks before my Jeep arrived.

All the mud you see on the driver side, is from all the rain we have here, it started raining on the 20th of December and today January 4th is first day the Sun has come out.

Its an easy enough install, but there is a small issue now, the passenger side door doesn't not like to close easily.

And the mod I did today, was the DIY grill protection.

There is instruction on Youtube very easy to follow and do.

Up coming mods:

Headlight and Fog lights
JW Speaker, I have been waiting on them from a Black Friday sale!

Lift:
Mopar Stage 3 lift, is going to be installed on the 12th of January
I am adding the front and rear track bar from Teraflex and steel brake lines.

Wheels:
AEV 17x8.5 Pintler Wheels, they weight for them is 25 pounds from what I have been able to find out. Is that the correct weight does anyone know for sure?

Tires: Undecided between 315X70R17 or 285X70R17
Also I am doing research on the weight of the tires etc.

I am trying to stay near the stock weights, which are:
Wheel weight 24 pounds, Tire weight 48 pounds. 72 pounds total

Several other mods coming down the pipeline few thing in the interior and exterior too.

JEEP: Just Empty Every Pocket!

I like the color, i love that power dome hood!! I wish i could find a used one. good luck with your build!
Thanks, I'll keep an eye out for one. I found a Rubicon hood at a clients warehouse a few weeks ago. Who knows what other parts I might find at some of these places!

I love the color!! Congrats!! Definitely following your build. Interested in your thoughts on the MOPAR lift with Fox shocks.
I have been watching your build too, I came really close to getting JKU.

I too am very interested in how the Jeep will be with the lift kit. Can wait to get the Jeep with this lift kit on the trail and see how it preforms on the road and off the road.

Great looking jeep! Usually not a yellow fan but I really like yours. And that hood, Ima steal it!keep up the good work, and looking forward to seeing more updates.
Thank you, I have liked yellow for a very long time on Jeeps and have always wanted one. Keep your paws off my HOOD... :lmao:

Just another FYI, today while at a clients warehouse I put my Jeep on the scale and it weight was...

4,220 POUNDS, with a full tank of fule.

Heeeey, cats didn't come with my husband's Jeep's lift. 'Course he doesn't like cats so maybe he ordered the ones without. Bummer.

Grab Bars Installed (Finally) and Polly Filled Speakers

Its been a busy few days...

Finally got around to installing the painted grab bars this afternoon.

What do you guys think?
Still thinking about painting the vent rings Baja too, with black lettering.

I kept the spacer black. They were a little bit of a PITA to get installed...the PAX side didn't want to line up! Went and got some Permatex anti-seize lubricant and it worked.

Also today I poly-filled the sound bar and sub-woofer! Its worth doing! It tightens up the sound. Especially the sub, before I could feel the base sometimes, but now...wow! I need to do the front speakers now, but it got to cold to open the dash up...that will come soon!

I love the grabars. They totally look stock with the added color. Very nice. And I like the black grips. Doesn't look overdone or cheap.
Thanks... :) I like them a lot!

Looks great!
Sweet! I can't wait to do more things to the Jeep and make it my own!

They look cool! What paint did you use?

BF Goodrich 35X12.5R17 MT T/A KM2 from all the reviews I have read, and video's I have watched, they seem to be one of the best all around tires.

Lift is Finished

Its sitting 3 inches higher about, I'll measure it when I get Jeep at home tonight.

The lift is finished, its the Mopar Stage 3 Lift. As of the short time I have driven with the lift, its better than stock. It no longer scares the crap out of me while braking! The nose dive is almost non-existence, its still there but not as bad when it was stock.

It takes the road bumps really nicely. I am taking it off road on Sunday and we will see how that goes...

I am getting the new wheels and tires in a few hours. Waiting on UPS to show up...

Looks great! I wanted to get the RS shocks because they look so cool, but didn't need to spend the extra money with all the other things in the pipeline. Plus I won't ever do any high speed off roading for long distances.

JW Speaker Lights

The head lights and fog lights arrived yesterday, and I will be installing them this morning.

Can't wait!

Headlamp Automotive lighting Light Auto part Automotive fog light

I have gathered my tools.
  1. T15 screw driver
  2. 15mm wrench
  3. Needle nose pliers
I have the JWS harnesses, and the quick connects from Headlight Revolutions for the fog lights. Its the 2504 to 6145 connector. I did not get the flicker harness yet for the fog lights, I am going to see if I can notice it before spending the money on it.

The Headlight Revolution connector can be found here
The Fog light Anti-flicker harness can be found here

I also got the Maximus 3 mounting hardware for the Hard Rock bumper. You can see it attacked to the fog lights the picture, it the "ears" on the sides of the fog lights.

JW Speaker Lights Installed

Today I spent a lot of time with the Jeep installing the lights and Plasti Dip the Jeep emblem.

The headlights what a PITA to get the horizontal adjustment screw in place. The wrench I had was a little to long to get a good angle on the nuts/screws that you have to remove to get the head light ring out and replace the one of the screws with adjustment bolt.

I got the screws out after good fight with them... :atomic:then all hell broke loose! The plastic broke on one side of the adjustment screw...and from what I understand you have to replace the whole core of the grill to get it fixed. But I continued because it was holding then the screw head stripped.:censored: once it stripped I was not a very happy! Trying to get the screw out I broke the another ear off the plastic hole! Needless to say I was P'O'ed big time then. I finally got the screw out of the headlight ring. And put the nut/screw that I started with back in its place. And super glued it in place, yes I know crappy fix until I can get the core for the grill. But it worked, and I got the headlights installed.

Installing the fog light on the Hard Rock bumper was somewhat easier but the PAX side wouldn't align properly, and that took about 20 minutes, to work out that the clip moved that holds the screw in place. Then I dropped the screw and it went under the support and front skid plate. So I had to remove the skid plate, to get the screw...

Also the harness you get from Headlight Revolutions, is way to long! If they would cut it in half it would be perfect.

A word about the headlights, OMG they are BRIGHT! I took the Jeep out without lowering them...OPPS It was like blazing sunlight hitting people in the face...(thank god there wasn't a lot of traffic).

I used the JW Speaker headlight harness and I have about .5 to 1 second delay in switching from HI-Beams to Low-Beams. :nonono: I am I not sure if I will be replacing them for the SMS harness yet.

The fog lights using the HR quick connect harness I did not notice any flickering. That is a good thing...

In the last picture you can see the emblem is now Plasti-Dipped.

Off Road ...

Went and took my Jeep out today at Barnwell Mountain Recreational Area

Did several trails...here is a few photos from some of them.

The Jeep preformed PERFECT! Way beyond my capabilities, I will need to learn a lot more to reach the Jeep's capabilities and not be scared :censored:less while doing some trails.

The photo below is me coming up a very steep hill cresting it on a 5 to 7 foot levy. You have to make an imitate right turn or you will end up in the pond in front of you, which you can't see until you make the turn.

Looks like a great time! I just had my first real trail outing sat. Was following Becca in Creeper up some stuff I never would have attempted myself! Pucker factor, but to your point it did more than I thought it would. Now to get some practice before Moab.
