Go to our local Jeep Dealership that we have been dealing with for the past few months looking at JKU while Lexi (My girlfriend) saves for the New Jeep. This day we go in because a few weeks ago we found a black/Saddle Sahara that Lexi likes and has all the options on plus the gorgeous interior. We go in on this Tuesday to find out that they had sold it a few days ago. We go look at new Jeeps and find none with the options that She wants (She gets what she wants). We find one that has all the same options but is used and has a Soft Top, 2013 Commando Green/ Black Interior. The price they wanted for the used Jeep was 100 Dollars difference than a brand new one but didn't have a hard top or floor mats. We make an offer and they tell us that the price is the price and I tell them that we will find a Wrangler somewhere else.

I wake up and start the search for low mileage used and new JKU. After hours of searching and calling to see if the prices are actually what they are, to my surprise some of the Wranglers that met the criteria did not have to price correct on their websites and we were tired of dealing with shady sales people and wanted the best price we could find. After expanding our search we found the Jeep of our dreams. It had all the options of the Black Wrangler had plus a painted hard top, upgraded axles, and Automatic Climate Control. It also was one of the original colors Lexi wanted, White, Black, or Dune. The only issue was that it was 5 1/2 Hours away in Nashville...

Here is the Window Sticker with all the Lovely Options

Lexi and I wake up at 5:30 to leave to Nashville. Loaded the two large dogs into the Camaro (Those are the forums I am on for my ride) and start making the long drive. We made a few pit stops for the bathroom but ate in the car because Lexi was so excited to have her first new car (before she was driving a 95 Grand am and 96 Astro Van). We get to the dealership at 11:45 and hope right in for a test drive. After driving it for 15 minutes we decide that this is the one.

We start the paperwork expecting to get out early..... that didn't happen, took 5 hours to do the paperwork and we had the worst sales person I have ever dealt with, but they did throw in some grab handles and some wheel locks in for us. The deal was too good to pass so we dealt and loaded the car and Jeep up to go back to St. Louis, MO.

First Day of Full Ownership and Modding, Lexi and I decide to wake up and go buy some stuff for the new money pit. We even took the Freedom Top off, it was a little cold for that in the 50 degree weather. We got goo-gone and some tools (Lowes to get some Ratchets (no pics yet) so in the next few days we could be able to take the doors off, if it ever gets nice enough.
First we took off the dealership stuff (don't like being a billboard especially after our poor experience).

AFTER PICTURES COMING SHORTLY

Lexi also decided on the name for her car. She being a Huge Harry Potter fan she named it after the snow owl, Hedwig

Well this is going to be our car that we do more traveling in due to space (the Camaro isn't built for distance, just speed). So got on amazon and ordered a bench cover and a coupler to strap the dogs in with a harness so we can drive with the doors off with them and them not to tear up the new leather. I don't have pictures of the equipment but I do have some of the mutts.

Tint installed to match back windows. Got it done at Night Shades in St. Peters. Anyone in St. Louis should take it there, Colin and Seth were very friendly and know what they are doing. 20% tint is what they said matched, and I think it looks perfect. Here are the pics of the window tint!

Picked up a used soft top for the summer. Super excited to get this sucker on in a week when it is a bit warmer. bought it used so needs some cleaning done since it was stored in an attic for a year. I got some convertible top cleaner for it, some on also said that resolve will work to clean. Anyone else have any other ideas to get it back to black?? here is a teaser pic

Wow! Is she an intern or a nurse? That's a hard schedule! Our daughter wants to be a doctor.

I think you'll really like the console cover. We have them on both our jeeps and love them! They really save you from frying your arm when it's hot out.

She is a BSN RN at a skilled nursing center on a hospital campus here in St. Louis. Works 7-7 3 days a week and usually picks up a shift once a week.

Yeah we noticed that the black armrest cooks in the heat. especially compared to the saddle interior. I just hope its here in time for our trip coming weekend.

Hey everyone long time no see. We finally got some work done. First was getting the Jeep naked for the summer. Also is pictured the Camaro we own.

The dogs love riding with the top down. We are planning some camping coming up this fall and should be a blast.

We got our soft top on. Much needed since our hard top is stored 3 hours a way.

And last but not least the stubby antenna. Great purchase and really modernizes the Jeep.

I didn't take any pictures of the center console but Rugged Ridge hit gold with that. Best purchase when your riding with the top down.

For Christmas Santa brought some goodies!

First up was door sill guards:

Before Front:

Before Back:

Just a brief observation the 3M tape on these sucked so I replaced it with some heavy grip 3M which is holding up a lot better.

After Front:

After Back:

Santa Also brought a Ebay gas cover:

I also painted the the bolts black to blend a little better:

Added the tailgate molle from ebay: Alanjk427. This thing is made super well. I am going to add some Wire or chain and a cutting board to it so it can be a table. I wrapped the pins with electrical tape and doesn't rattle anymore which is a common complaint with it.

He even does custom engraving. Ours says Sahara.

So my new job gives me some freedom so I was crusing craigslist and found a guy selling Rugged Ridge Inserts for a steal. So called him up, said some clips were broke, looked on ebay and found a brand new set incomplete for ten bucks. Bought both sets for under 50 bucks!

These are solidly built. 5 minute install. Best 50 bucks spent on the JKU so far!

Thanks NCTKD, Within the next month I'm going get some cable to hold it (right now held by paracord) and figure out something to lay in it to use for a camping table.
