Thanks pal. It's not obnoxious at all. It's very pleasing to the ear at any rpm. I don't notice any drone either so that's a plus.

Ah, I haven't done anything build-worthy yet. Just GraBars and a console cover and removing my taillight guards. Waiting for Santa to bring the REAL goodies!

That's a good start. I'll be keeping an eye out. I still need to order the GraBars.

Make sure you order the grips when you order the bars. I didn't, because with Mike's we really didn't need them. But it seems like Ken has started using a new powder coat on the version 2 bars and they are a rougher texture than version 1. Not bad, and definitely not a reason NOT to buy them, the grips will just make it more comfortable.

Thanks for the heads up. I was going to order the grips anyway. That's awesome they are powder coated.

Looks Awesome.
Did you need to use a spacer for the spare tire?

Thanks!!

No spacer needed on the spare. The only thing I did was trim down the rubber bump stops. The tire fits snug up against the 3rd brake light and has perfect clearance in the bumper.

I will be loading up the tune from my flashpaq tomorrow. Stay tuned for updates on it. I was waiting on my calibration file to be added to the server. The guys at superchips are great. I spoke with a couple guys over the phone and through email and everyone is very knowledgeable.

Branman, did you need the flashpq due to the 285 to correct the speedo? I can't recall if this is needed with 33s like it is with 35s. Thanks!

That was one of the reasons I got it. My mpg was not reading what I calculated so I adjusted it when I got the tuner last week and it's been on the money.

Got it. I found this nice little tool to compare change in tires size and impact on speedometer: Tire Dimensions Made Simple - Discount Tire

Superchips Flashpaq tune is installed. I didnt do very well at catching every step of the process.

The entire process takes a good 30 minutes. The flashpaq will save 2 stock files then install 4 new files. I really like how it works. Its very simple to install you just follow the prompts.

I installed the 87 octane tune and initial impressions are very good. I noticed a nice down low increase and throttle response is much improved. I dont think I will be racing around much but Ill do a couple pulls and see what it does in the higher RPMs. Ill report back on MPG after I run a tank through with the 87 tune.

i Didnt know they had tunes out for the new engines?!?

I love my jeep but ive been annoyed at the throttle response...If im on a hill and need to reverse going up hill i almost always stall (im a seasoned stick driver lol) its all most like they didnt match the the throttle with the clutch release point...Now when i get into my mini after driving my jeep for a while i end up over revving on the first few shifts until i get "used" to the mini again

How much was the tuner and then the tune? do you know how much it would be for a revision when i add my tires, possible exhaust etc?

I agree completely. I had the exact same problem.

The tuners run about 268 which I think is the best price out there.

I originally was just going to buy a flashcal which is the same thing minus the performance tunes. I saw on superchips website they were looking for beta testers for 2014 wranglers. I contacted them and they sent me a flashpaq at a discounted price. Im 100% happy with the tune and the throttle response is a non issue anymore.

The tuner can adjust for tires with no updates needed. The exhaust im not sure if you can tell it there is an exhaust or not. I doubt a catback will change much in tuning on this engine.

Hey Branman. How's it going with the Flashpaq? Just wondering if you've gotten any better MPG, or just how well it's working for you in general. I think "Santa" is about to order one for me for christmas, so I just want to know if you think it's worth it or not before it gets ordered. I was initially going to just get the Flashcal to change my DRL's and for future tire size but your thread got me interested in the Flashpaq. Mine's a 2012 JK btw. Thanks!

Sorry, also forgot to ask..This is just the standard 3870 hardware right? Like if I buy one of these from anywhere, as long as it's a 3870 I'll be able to do a software update that will include the 2012 and up software?

Im really happy with the Flashpaq so far. I have ran a tank of gas through and havent really seen a increase in MPG but it hasnt dropped either which I think is good. The increase in performance is not huge but is def there. I can accelerate easier in 6th gear now which is nice. The throttle response is 100 times better which was very annoying to me.

Yep as long as its the 3870 your good. I think the cheapest people are picking them up is like 268 which isnt bad at all.

Sorry for the delayed response I wasnt on much yesterday.

I then added the supplied red loctite

I installed the spacer and torqued to 90 ftlbs. These are normally all blue but considering the color, I didnt want to see the bright blue through the wheels (i know im picky). I painted them using rustoleum high heat grill paint.

All done!

Since I am in the market for spacers, what are these dangers of wheel spacers you speak of?

Spacers can be dangerous if not installed and torqued properly. They also need to be checked at tire rotation intervals.

I would highly recommend a made in the USA set of spacers and just follow the instructions and you will be ok.
