Fuzzy's Amp'd JKU Build Thread

I'm not planning any crazy rock crawler build (not that there is anything wrong with that), but I wanted to document some of the things I am planning. I haven't seen a lot of pictures of Amp'd Jeeps yet, so maybe this will help prospective Amp'd Jeepers too.

14' JKU Sport S AMP'D, Automatic, 3.73, Max Tow, LSD, Dual Top, Alpine, Black Appearance Group

Here it is the day the dealer called and said it unloaded off the transport.

And here is when I got it home.

More to come later...

The first thing I added was the 13 inch offroad antenna from Antenna X. I haven't noticed any bad reception, but I rarely listen to AM/FM. In this picture you can also see the Mopar Front Air Deflector. This was on of the dealer installed accessories I got. I also had the dealer install the Mopar Headliners, Mopar Door Sill Guards, and Remote Start. I'll get pics of the Door sill guards and the headliner.

The next thing I added are the Welcome Distributing Front GraBars. I love these things. They are SOLID!

Next I added the Rugged Ridge Black Grill Inserts.

Since then, all I have added is snow and salt. I still have a few more bits to add when it warms up a little.

We've been in the 20's for highs since I picked it up last Wednesday. Today we got up to 45 and with the sun it felt like summer. At lunch I washed all the salt off. I told myself I was going to take the freedom panels for the ride home after work. Unfortunately, I had to work a little late and 45 with no sun is a lot cooler the 45 @ noon.

Oh well, at least I got her cleaned up.

Thanks Don. I really started to second guess the Amp'd choice during my wait, but I love it now that it is here. Especially with the black top and fenders.

It was 50 degrees when I got off work today for the first time since I picked it up last week. So I took the freedom panels off for the first time. I had the heat blasting and a stocking cap on, but it was pretty awesome.

When I got home, the kids thought it was pretty cool too. The decided they needed to try driving.

Priceless pic with the kids! There is an amp'd living not too far from me and the color is very cool. Have fun!

I love them. They are rock solid. They don't budge when my rather large self swings on them.

I think they look great too. The really fit the Jeep style.

Hey Aussie...

I'm not fuzzy, but I hope you won't mind me chiming in...

GraBars are AWESOME! When we bought our 2013 last year we started with the standard strap type handles. When you need the handles to really pull yourself in (I have a bad knee and need the assist), the strap handles leave you feeling like you're swinging on a trapeze. The GraBars are solid as . Solid steel construction, fixed placement and a great stationary point to hold on to for off-roading.

Two caveats: one, you really should buy the neoprene grips to go on the handles. They have changed the powder coat they use and it is a little rougher than the original. Two, they are a little fussy to install, but definitely worth the effort. You can only turn each bolt two or three turns at a time to keep them going in straight. It takes a little bit longer, but not hard to do.

I liked the GraBars we had installed in our 2013 SO much that they were the first mod I ordered for my 2014, even BEFORE my jeep arrived. I didn't want to spend one day without them.

GraBars are a GREAT choice! You won't be sorry!

Fuzzy, sorry for hijacking your thread for a GraBars commercial.

Thanks Starbrite much appreciated.... They will be on my order list for sure.... I was thinking the same thing about the standard strap type handles as well.

I ordered an Amp'd Rubi JKU a couple of weeks back, been right hand drive over here they make em to order for us and I wont get it until April May 2014.... My garage is going to full of extras by then ;-)

It's all good, I have a nice Toyota Prado 150 now which will tie me over until then we have plenty of Jeep dealers with tonnes of floor stock but they all seem to be sport or Overland (Saraha for you guys) in black, white or silver. Our prices are way over priced compared to what you are paying. If you want something out of the ordinary then you have to wait..... The only thing I have to decided on with my order is the media centre upgrade. It comes with the Uconnect 130, $900 extra for the 230 & was quoted $2409 for the 730.... makes an expensive GPS....

I got a few new bits installed tonight. Silverstar Ultra Headlight Bulbs and LED reverse lights. The reverse lights definitely make a big difference, but I'm not sure about the headlights yet.

Today I had some free time and got a couple more little things added. The Daystar Hood Wranglers and some decals to personalize my jeep. I removed the Sport decal and added some KC Chiefs Arrowheads.

We hit 70 today! Woo hoo! So I took the freedom panels off and took the family to sonic for some milkshakes. Pretty cool cruising around town with VeggieTales blaring on the radio.

Afterwards, I installed the Rugged Ridge door handle protectors (the black disks under the handles).

Nice new mods, fuzzy!

Sonic trip for milkshakes sounds like a great half topless trip!
