No air down, that's interesting, they wont even let you through the gate in Cape Cod with more then 12lbs, how does it do in the soft sand at full air pressure? Quick one on the drive shaft, how much longer than stock?

My 40's should be in this week, people are telling me I"m going to need drive shafts

Thanks, and again, AWESOME Rig!

Outer Banks in NC doesn't check you, the 40s have such a big footprint you'll be fine even in the soft stuff, I've done it. As far as drive shaft length I have no clue, but you will definitely need to upgrade with 40s. Send me a pic when you get it installed!

Air Raid CAI

Got it on today, fit and finish is awesome. The fully enclosed box sold me. Can't really say it drives any different, maybe slightly lower RPM's at highway speeds. Kinda bummed that it didn't make the exhaust sound that much louder. Maybe a little throatier between 3K-6K RPM. I'd already put on the AFE cat back system when I got the jeep.

Sorry for the muddy engine, but it is a jeep!

Airaid

Few more miles on it today, have to say rolling with the windows down she definitely sounds better after 3K RPM, not day and night but I do like it!

for beaches, you dont need to air down since they are usually worn paths, but you should air down anyways( especially so you dont destroy the paths). with those big stiff tires, 10 psi is a decent starting point to get the most traction for anything offroad.

Please tell me you made it up that. If my jeep wouldnt climp that lose dirt or not it would have a hell of lot more then a busted U joint when I was finished beating on it.

See that pile of rocks behinde you and the jeep in the pic where you are holding your shaft up? That would be one hell of a spot to get a good photo.

well that hill does look pretty steep. in my mind the question, once again, is why no airing down? look at the ruts his jeep is making in that second picture.

plus the fact that he blew out a ujoint on essentially a dirt road. means tons and tons of wheel spin, and then suddenly some traction and boom. explosion. had the tires had more traction the whole time, would have been no issue

i dont get why some people just refuse to air down. it makes wheeling alot more comfortable, and easier! besides, i'm sure he can afford a sweet 20# co2 tank to air backup with!

either way, good word of warning to those looking at teraflex drive shafts. when you go to replace them, maybe see about going 1350. and get them with some good u-joints, not the chinese crap

[QUOTE=sneck;3223375]well that hill does look pretty steep. QUOTE]

True but if you are not draging anything to much(frame, links, skids, ect) you can allmost allways make a climb that you can get your front tires over if you are willing to push it and your rear is not set up so soft that it squats down to far on you when it takes most of the weight of the jeep. Butttt if you have no traction............

True

Probably would have scaled it at 10-16 PSI. Will do next time! Still had a blast!

On the highway your RPM at a given speed can't be affected by any mod other than tire size and gear changes, unless you have an automatic and your torque converter isn't locking up at highway speeds.
I'm glad you like the intake though. 3000-6000 rpm; you like to rap that baby up don't you.

Here comes the Dana 60

Got off the phone with Brandon at 4WP, looks like the U joint was the least of my worries. He says he's never seen it happen on a JK but the axle literally broke away in the center and was literally spinning on the tubes, bottom line it's shot. Good news is that my new G2 Dana 60 is on the way!

do you have a picture of this? is he saying the pinion bearing gave out? didnt they do your regear?

so they did a shitty install, and convinced you to buy a dana60 to fix it? i should have stayed in sales.

doh, didnt realize it was the rear. either way, same point.

dana 60s can mean different lug patterns (if you add a 60 in the front). so decide what youre doing with the front, and make sure you get wheels to match. boom boom

Looks like my guess of smacking a rock was right. You have to be aware of where the parts are under th jeep and what they can hit.
