Yeah, sure did..got the NFAB ones on order. I ordered through Quadratec around March 24th & I called this past Tuesday & they told me up to 7-10 more days. They're typically pretty good but I was not expecting this. Are you pretty confident you will be pleased with them? I'm slightly worried I could have regrets.

I feel great about them. I'm not building a rock crawler so there was no need for rock rails. If anything, my Jeep will be more of an expeditionary type vehicle so this just made sense for me.

What are your concerns about them? Fitment issues, versatility, etc etc?

Yeah I am looking to turn mine into more of a trail/safari build as well however I guess I'm concerned with clearance issues. From what I can tell the steps don't seem to sit any lower than the frame.

I've heard nothing but great things as far as quality & customer service goes.

Cool. If I get mine on before you, there will be pics of them installed in my build thread.

Well I'm still at work so I can't. However I did acquire this from a coworker for free! If you've visited my photo bucket & seen the trailer with the pop up tent, that's the guy that doesn't need it anymore. He welded it himself, super sturdy! We had two guys standing in it today. It need some loving but a great project. It won't fit into the hitch with the spare so I either need to mod/extend the welding job or raise the tire with a tire carrier.

Yeah I know...You're right and I plan on it...however I plan on spending some change on some vacations this summer so I got to budget. I need to try and figure out how many inches my tire sits up higher with the AEV carrier than my current setup. I may have to mod the side of the cage sitting under the spare for it to work...either way if I dont get any time off work sometime soon I will never know...been busy. Didn't even look at the step rails tonight, threw them on the back of the jeep and will deal with them hopefully tomorrow during lunch if I have time.

Do you have any eye level pics of the hitch/bumper/tire carrier setup?

I am not sure what you mean by eye level? I am 6'5" tall hence the 3.5" SC lift , possibly this is what you are looking for? Hope this helps!

Guys...I think this is the first mod I'm not happy with. I'm not crazy about them. On the front of the tube is open to water and debris to get in, there's no cap so they have a high potential to rot out from the inside. They came with this scratch on them. They don't give the stock appearance. The placement of the steps could be better aligned with the doors.

I think they look great! What if you drilled some small holes from underneath the tubing to allow water to drip out?

I would call the company and get an RMA (return merchandise authorization) if your not happy...send em back. Your right they will rust out, poor design. There are lots of other options out there. Drilling more holes will increase your risk of corrosion IMHO. But it's your $$$. FWIW..

other than the scratch ( which would piss me off ) they look good but, if they aren't made well... send em back!!

Great. Not what I wanted to hear. I suppose I'll throw mine on anyways and see how I like them.

Yeah....my initial reaction. Maybe they'll grow on me. I shouldn't have to further mod a product like this to be happy with it.

That's too bad about the exposed ends... I had my eye on those for my build too. Your right about having to further mod a mod to be happy. Good luck.

My email to both customer service providers. Sorry if I rained on some guys parades, I kinda like for everything to be nearly perfect or at least know I picked the best product for the job.

"N-FAB/Quadratec Customer Service,

I recently ordered a pair of N-FAB NERF STEPS for my 2013 4DR JK Wrangler via Quadratec. They arrived out of the box with a significant scratch through the powder coat. I installed them anyway to see if it would be noticeable from afar and it certainly was noticeable. I received the package yesterday April 12. I have attached my receipt and multiple pictures of the scratch. As you can see I paid $366.99 for this product and I expect it to come undamaged upon arrival. I look forward to a response from who ever is responsible for this. I have spent over 4K via Quadratec and am confident I will get back a satisfying response. I will be standing by ready to take directions on sending the damaged one back in order to receive a undamaged product.

-BREAK-

N-FAB,

I noticed one end of the NERF STEPS (front end) does not have a cap end on it. Therefore any debris or water that comes straight off the tire has a high probability of getting into the step allowing the debris and water to rot the nerf rail from the inside out. Is this a massive overlook from the engineers or am I missing something? That one flaw alone makes me question the rest of the product. I also have some food for thought. One thing to think about is to have the nerf tube sit closer to the body, nearly molded to the jeep, no different than a MOPAR rock rail. This will drastically improve the cosmetics along with allowing more clearance for off road practicality."

I have done a fair amount of business with Quadratrec if that is who you ordered from. I feel certain if you shipped a damage product back they would make it right. I would not pay for and then install damaged accessories on my jeep JK. Your not raining on parades, you spent $$$ and the goods arrived with damage. Best of luck!

Quick & very professional response from N-Fab last night! Perhaps I stand corrected on the engineering standpoint. Maybe that's why they don't pay me the big bucks. We'll see how they work out. Still plan on replacing the one but I think they grew on me over night...I'm liking them more & more.

"Your N-fab step will not corrode from the inside out via the open tube. It's left open so it can aerate out otherwise the condensation build up due to atmospheric weather changes will collect in the tube. Only reason the rear is caped on the JK is to move the rear step as far rearward to do so we straight cut the rear of the tube. We have 1200 different models of steps at this point. Every model open uncapped for the past 20 years . At N-fab we are the largest domestic step manufacture in the US. Use in confidence.

The main tube is as close to the body we can get it and way closer than any other tubular product on the market. The Mopar piece for the Rubicon does look clean but as you know has no value as a step.

Looks like some unfortunate freight damage. Sorry to see that. But Quadratec is the best online jeep retailer there is. I am sure they will get you taken care of.

Let me know how it goes. We will do our part working with Quad

Thanks for choosing N-fab products.

Thomas Fichter
CEO N-fab inc"

Perhaps I can work a discount for my rear bumper purchase instead.

My bolts will not go through the brackets holding the steps to the side of the Jeep. They will be returned.

I don't understand the point of sliders with steps that hang down. Doesn't that defeat the point of a slider, sliding?

Thumbs up side steps versus sliders.

With over 2 tons of weight, and plenty of torque, it's going to "slide". The difference is in the glide.
Those are more "side steps" than sliders. But they will still stave off rocker damage on the trail.
Pretty nice quality pieces.
