Very far behind in my updates with some other projects ongoing. Here is a clue as to what I'm doing at the moment!

These shocks are absolutely beautiful.

Might as well have the recovery shackles color-matched to the wheels.

Kept the threads clean but everything else powder coated evenly.

Thanks - I should have some better content over the weekend. I"m doing 3 or 4 things at once including the full gamechanger lift with 6-pack shocks, while concurrently planning the next stage. Haven't had time to sort pictures and make sense of it all just yet.

Nevertheless...I love me some powder coat and this color so I had to share the shackles!

Went with these from Ballistic Fabrication

real question is, is the 6 pak shocks worth it if you can't replace your fenders immediately? i should call MC and see if they can recommend a shock that is in between the cost of the OME and the 6 paks.

I think to take advantage of the 6 pack shock, you really do need to replace your fenders. BUT, all of the metalcloak kits come with adjustable bump stops and they have a guide on their website with how many sections to use with and without certain fenders.

Basically, if you wanted full gamechanger and keep your stock fenders for a while, you add an extra section to the bump to limit travel. When you eventually replace your fenders, if ever, you just remove a section or two of the bump stop and you regain all of the uptravel you didn't have before.

The amount of bumpstop depends on fenders as well as tire size.

This looks sweet!! I'm also thinking of going with the GC, but maybe just the light since MC said I wouldn't really feel a large difference on the road between OME and 6pack. I would like to run 37's and the KM2 run pretty light/small and would probably be just right for my D30 until I can swap it with a PR44.

Could paint over that nasty yallow (I completely agree, BTW) with some cheap rattle-can.

Seriously though - you can get some really nice, and long lasting finishes out of a rattle can anymore. If you prepped them while they were clean, you could go with any color you wanted really.

I would go with a basic bronze metallic if I had the OME. scuff the OME. Degrease then spray. Would be much better if you pulled them off to do it right but 3 coats each then some clear rattle and they'd be good for years with easy touch ups.

Now that I have the gamechanger lift on with all the zinc coated arms, I've been thinking about painting up the steering stabilizer to match.

I love me some rattle-can. Been using that stuff for years...no shame in it whatsoever. Just some good 'ol fashioned elbow grease in the prep, and BLAMO! Saves a ton of money and time...good and even gooder.

Really like the build snarf. Those fenders are sick. Something similar is on my fabrication list for mine...thanks in part to your thread and the pics.

so spray paint the yellow OME shocks instead of going with fox or bilsteins?

The ome shocks are well reviewed. There are so many choices but I don't think you should switch up from what Metalcloak offers and has tested for fear of having to change the shocks color.

I can't wait to get my jeep back and get these fenders on.

Does anyone reading this reside in Maryland/PA anywhere near Baltimore or the MD/PA line?! I really think i want a set of GraBars post-Gamechanger lift but I'd love to try some out and see them first hand before jumping in.

Could we get a picture of your suspension? I'd like to see the arms specifically.

This is a heLL of a write up! Can't wait to see the finished product with those fenders on!!

The arms are really beefy. I'll hopefully have the jeep back this weekend (getting some vinyl work) and I'll get to re-install my fenders. The rear are so easy I'll probably start there..but the fronts are probably what I should do first.

Here is a comparison shot:

6-packs, spring, arms:

Same shot on jeep and flexing minimally:

Very clean build, coming along nicely. Sub'd to hear a review on those 6pak's.

Also, looks like the arms are already mounted, but you might want to consider painting them. Metalcloak recommends it in the salt belt. Their zinc holds up well unless you rub or scratch them. Im in Michigan and ive got a couple of scrapes and some rubs from my tires that have some surface rust after one winter. Ill probably pull them off and spray them this spring.

Thanks much for the advice and I've been thinking about what I'll do in that regard. I wonder if I can mask the jeep and spray them with a heavy clear coat while they are on the vehicle? I do like the look of the zinc, but I don't want to end up with any more corrosion than necessary.

Clear isn't as good as heavy paint, but with a few coats and touch-ups twice a year, I should get pretty good corrosion resistance.

I would think you could. It may be hard to get a good coat on the ends close to the mounts, but youd get the areas that are most likely to get scraped/scratched/hit with rocks/etc. That said, why not powdercoat them to match your wheels? Keep your color scheme going.

Make sure your front tires clear the lower control arms. I dont think any amount of paint or clear coat would prevent the tires from rubbing through pretty quick. Especially at full lock with the sway bar disconnected.
