Yikes!
I fear drone and hate it with passion....

Exhaust Update:
I set an appointment shortly after returning from SD to add a back pipe to the DynoMax evolution kit. What a difference. you can still hear it when under acceleration but under normal cursing load the drone just melts away. Much better in my opinion. I can hold a conversation in the jeep at highway speeds again. Had the shop tuck the outlet up tight to the bumper. You can barely see it standing behind the jeep. Bonus, the big ugly siver boat anchor is still gone!

Over the last few weeks I have received my Trek Armors but have not had time to install them. Had the transmission issues continue and finally had a new transmission installed under warranty (so far so good). Had my front two widows tinted to keep my arm from frying in the sun.

And discovered a creak in the body mounts that i cannot for the life of me figure out. Everything its nice and tight. When I pull up or down on my ace slider it clunks. Also does it over larger bumps and with body roll during turns. I may try removing the rail, and re-installing.

NP. Glad it was useful. That's one of the things I like most about the internet age, I can learn from others, as well as pass on knowledge.

Tonight will be very hard to fall asleep. the White and Purple santa is due to deliver a truckload (literally) of goodies from Northridge 4x4. Also on the truck should be even more goodies dropped shipped from a couple other vendors. Stay tuned over the next few days for more details.....

Major Mod weekend. On Thursday, all of my care packages arrived courtesy of Northridge 4x4. I had to use a trailer to get the pallet of parts home.

Ready to go home and a before pic

Got up bright and early and headed to a friends shop to use the lift. It took all of 13 hours to install the AEV 3.5 lift, front and rear drive shafts, wheel spacers, eat lunch, drive home, and install the rear bumper.

Drilling out the knuckle for the high steer went very well

After heading home with the new lift we kept the momentum going and installed the AEV rear bumper and tire carrier.

Sunday morning started a bit later with the goal of the front bumper and winch. I had already been hacking on the AEV front bumper. I dont like the look or feel of the plastic crush can covers, so I decided to cut the cans off.

Used EVO's D-Ring brackets instead.

I also wanted a very clean look from the front, so I bought the AEV winch cover plate and a remote kit for the winch. I also clocked the end one bolt to move the engagement lever back. It did require me to trip the grille a bit, and I still have to clean it up, but otherwise a very low key install. The AEV non-winch plate use bolts and nuts, with a winch in there, I wanted access without having to remove the whole bumper, so I welded the nuts to the back of the plate. "What winch"?

detail of grille trimming, still need to clean it up a bit more

Still need to fab a bracket for the contactor, and extend the control socket somewhere nice

And after 18 total hours of labor, all is in and well!

Those are the JE Reel OE kits front and rear. I talked to Jim himself at Overland Expo, and although they recommend them for up to 3" and 33's, he basically said I'd be OK with 3.5 and 35's since I don't do extreme off roading. Mostly overland stuff.

The OE kits do not replace the factory yokes, which was a concern since I had the transmission replaced under warranty already. Install was extremely easy. No issues so far ~1000 miles including a trip through the mountains.

Here are a couple crappy cell shots of it with tires. I'll get some good shots next run.

I spent this afternoon making a bar to mount accessories such as a phone, GPS, and my HAM radio head up out of the way on the dash. Vector Off-road offers a dock that sits in the upper dash pocket but I didn't want the hoop and wanted something that had a wider span. More like the one they make for the 2007-2010. Luckily, while snooping around on top of the dash I noticed two small access panels. Popped them out and there were two studs with plenty of meat to thread on to.

So I turned some steel into standoffs. I also took some 1" scope rings I had lying around and modified them to mount the cross bar. All said and done it took about 4 hours. The cross bar could be a bit longer and is currently a piece of EMT conduit. Once I get some clamp mounts I'll load up the bar and access how well it can handle the loading. If all goes well, I plan on replacing the tube with a true 1" OD aluminum tube and adding a few inches to get it the full width of the dash.

Also, took a bit longer than should have, but here are some more pics from the trails.

These were from New Year's Day. This was also the day I experienced two rollovers. First the jeep rolled past 10,000 miles. Then a bit later I was riding shotgun when my friend rolled his truck over. Thank goodness for roll cages and 5 point harnesses.

After about 7 months of putting it off I finally installed my TrekArmors today. Overall am very impressed, a few minor things bug me but I sometimes have unrealistic expectations. Ordered with red stitching and logos. Yes, the child seat was purchased to match the trek armor colors!

Had to get her all gussied up first though.

Thanks! There are so many awesome jeeps out there that you just have to find what works for you.
Looking back, I kinda wish I had gone with blue accents instead of red. But it's too late to turn back now.

My next addition will be some diff covers. Details to come upon completion.

Fixed a damaged and leaking ear diff cover. I had snagged it on a rock or ledge over the weekend and it was seeping, sometimes pretty good. I picked up a couple Ballistic covers (local shop to me) and slapped some red paint on them. I think these will take significantly more abuse than the stock covers.
