Here is the tire mounted to check for proper spacing between the tire and the trailer. I am going to lower the axle 4" to allow for travel and to give some over all spacing and clearance for the fenders.

So here is the 4" channel I am using for the frame spacers. I put a 20degree cut on the ends and then boxed the ends closed

It came out really nice in my own opinion. The angle and boxed ends lend itself to the factory look.

. Mounted the tire up and leveled out the trailer. The tire spacing is right on he money.

I love them. Hands down the best mod I made. You can stand on them, bounce on them and zero flex. It takes 2 min to pull the fenders and have the extra flex clearance or the the open wheel look(which I prefer in the summer)

Just a quick x-mas update, I received the raw fender material today from Metal Cloak for the custom fenders on the trailer. Thank you to Matson and Metal Cloak for their help with this.

These rods with mount to the trailer permanently. I needed to drill and tape the back side.

Here is the backs drilled and ready for taping. These will mate up to the regular 6" removable fenders http://www.metalcloak.com/Jeep-Rear-...-CJ-p/2426.htm

Today I begin making the inner fender sheet metal. I tacked it in line as I moved along

The tacking went well and I was able to avoid warping it due to heat. Of course I am using 16 gauge for the fender so it's less likely to warp.

Completed and mounted to the trailer

Finished welding and reinforcing the tack welds. Now it's off to the powder coater's and they will be done.

I have to look to tell exactly which torsion axles they are. I ordered them to spec. They are 5 on 4.5 with 1.5" spacers to 5 on 5 for standard JKU hubs

If you're going with a bigger lift, doesn't that mean the trailer has to be jacked sky high too??

I wonder what you'll tow in it...but I imagine it will match as well

Saw this thing and realized that yours blows it away!!

Now this one, on the other hand, takes it to a whole new level

Thank you! It doesn't mean you have to bigger but it's about the wheel travel and tire size mostly. I wanted to use the same size tires and rims so that I didn't have to waste space by carrying and extra spare tire. Also by changing to a rubber torsion axle from a straight axle the tires move straight up and down independently.

I finished the articulating hitch setup for the trailer. I was able to design this so that it bolts thru the factory trailer frame with cutting of the original Pental hitch. The trailer portion slides in and is adjustable for toung length. I now have a solid attachment and full articulation for off roading. I will be sending it out with the fenders this week for powder coating. A little bit of wiring and I'm almost done.
