My JKURX Build

OK, so what else can you do to a JKURX? Not much but here are some of my add ons.

First thing to go....New K&N

Next thing is the winch....can't go anywhere without.....If you buy this X model plan on raking out at least an additional $450.00 for the winch plate...these bumpers are "Winch Capable" not winch ready.

This next thing is a MUST for all JK owners.....No more hood flutter at highway speeds. These hood latches from Drake are expensive but worth every penny. Summit Racing should have them in stock! Plug for my Son in Law....

Next thing is some REAL grab handles....these work really nice from GraBar

Gotta have a rock deflector in Ohio! AVS makes a really nice one at a great price!

This is a must have...not sure why these guards are not factory installed...used to be on all cars years ago.

Every car needs a trash can! This one is cool...it sets in the cup holders and provides you additional cup holders.

Last but not the last is my new plates....if you plan on paying this much for a vehicle to take off road you want to show your name!

See you soon with more upgrades!

That came out looking great!
Are you going to add the mud flaps?
I keep seeing muddy jeeps, with mud sprayed up the doors from the front tires. Then I read about the hinges getting sandblasted from sand and grit getting flung up. That and the sill guards are first on my list.

K&N was the best money saver mod ever.....I am getting a easy 18 MPG on the highway now. Drove to Atlanta from Cleveland over Christmas when I first picked up and I was lucky to be at 15 to 16. However it is a bit loud when on a hill, lots of engine noise but it's actually a pretty cool sound.

Probably will go to new flares either when the tires go bad or these fade. With the factory 32's I still get plenty of lift for the trails and I don't want to kill the ride quality on the pavement. I will however go up to 33's when I change just for the look I want.

How do you like the stinger? I bought the hoop before they even advertised the stinger. I think I like it better than the hoop. Does it have a hook to run the winch line to? Do you know if it mounts the same way as the hoop?

You can run the winch line to the plate on top if needed. I am not sure how the hoop works but I would assume the same. Three bolts go to the plate that mounts beneath the top side of bumper and the tool brackets that go into the frame to stabilize it. I like it a lot better than the others but the price is steep! After buying the Mopar winch mount and the stinger I could have bought a whole new bumper! Oh well I like it so I guess it was worth the added cost.

It's actually seeping rust from inside the tubes, waiting to hear back from Maximus to see if this is common. I had tubes on my YJ years ago and they rusted apart.

I'm interested in this as well. I also have rust on my LP Maximus hoop. Installed 3 weeks ago. Like yours... Everything on my YJ rusted and rotted out

RUST???? Where on the hoop are you seeing the rust? I will be PISSED if I spent that kind of coin and get rust that fast. Three weeks of being installed is ridiculous. Is there a scratch where you are seeing the rust?

Just heard back from Maximus. They are sending a replacement. Not sure what is causing it but last time I washed it and then it rained I had rust all over my bumper. I think it is coming from the inside of the tubes. Might be out of a drain hole or something.

Get in touch with Joe at Maximus. Tell him you are having the same problem as john with the stinger. They will take care of you. Let me know when you want to hit the trails, I am in northeast ohio!

Go north! Get up to Corova beach area 4x4 only.......very relaxing and plenty of sandy roads to play on and miles of beach not to mention a lot less people. Now I am home sick, heading back very soon!

PS plus a hell of a lot cheaper than Pine Island......unless you need a 14 bedroom house with an elevator and all amenities. If so then Pine is the place to be. You can get some really nice places through Twiddy in June for a fair price.

Thanks for the info... I will look into that. I was able to make it north to the 4-wheel drive only area last time --- what a blast, had a great time with my old Jeep back then. We will be looking for a large house to rent as we will be traveling with 7-8 couples and kids. I will look at Twiddy.
Hopefully my Jeep will be completed today. Will post pics when I get it back.

We are there in June, August/September and occasionally later in the year. Let me know when you are going and I can show you around the 4x4 area. It has changed a lot since you were last there.....there are some larger homes in Ocean Sands which it's right before the road ends and have decent prices, if you have people with no 4x4. Hard for me to stay in town after being on the dunes for years. Best restaurant in my opinion northbanks.com/ best pizza is Corolla...again my opinion.

Thanks! I will stay in touch. My wife and I are spearheading the planning if this trip for next year... It's been 20 years so any input would be helpful. I will message you is you don't mind as we get closer to finalizing things. On another note... My Jeep will be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon. I will post pics.

One of my last but not final pieces, probably the most important of all. This is a must for any Rubicon owner. Want locked diff in 4 Hi? Done, want to turn off those pesky TPMS? Done, want to disco your sway bar in 4 hi? Done, not to mention a host of tunes and ability to install back-up camera. Started to install mine but the camera was bad so one is on its way. I like to get one. So there are tuning ability for the 2014 on that unit?

I thought I could disconnect the sway bar in 4hi stock?
