SHYUperman's JKU Build Thread

After 5 long weeks and two missed delivery dates, I finally picked up my JKU on Thursday night. My wife and I were extremely happy with our purchase.

As a first time Jeep owner, I'm amazed with this car.

The 5 week wait consisted of stock piling a whole much of parts in my basement.

Here's how it looked on Friday before I dropped it off to get my wheels and lift installed

After:

List of mods so far:

17x9 XD Addicts
1.5 Teraflex Performance Lift
33" Duratracs
OME Shocks
AntennaX
Ace Rock Sliders

Just installed the ACE Rock Sliders tonight. Going to get my windows tinted tomorrow. I'll post some updated pictures.

Hopefully, I'll install my LoD shorty bumper this weekend. Still have two pairs of Hellas for the windshield and bull bar.

Still babying the Wrangler and making sure I take it easy.

Post picks of the bumper when it gets installed. Bumpers are the one thing I am on the fence about. I really want them on one hand, but might wait till I trash the plastic ones first.

How did the ACE install go?

ACE install went well... unfortunately, the weather didn't allow the spray paint to dry completely when I bolted it back on. So it was a hot mess, I'm probably going to spray paint them again once it's less humid and hot.

Thankfully, my wife's grandfather had a sander so griding the bolts were a breeze.

Will do, I ended up with the LoD Armour Lite because it's supposed to be 41lbs (compared to the 44lb on the stock bumper). Chris from JeepAddOns also had a killer intro deal on them. We'll see how I like them on the Jeep, I still have a love for the Poison Syder Brawler Lites.

We should meet up soon!

New LoD shorty bumper with skid plate.

Gotta make an order for spacers for my D-rings. And then probably a rugged ridge a-pillar switch for my Hellas

What are you going to do for a front plate mount? FFX's finest will want to know.

Looks sweet! What size tires are those? Are they 33x12.50s or a metric tire? Also, did you go with 4.5" backspacing on the XDs? Thanks in advance!

I made some L brackets for the skid plate

Yeah, I was worried about driving around without front plates. I'm really glad this little idea worked out.

Thanks, it's 17x9 wheel with 285/70/17 tires. Got the -12 offset so about a 4.5 backspacing

Sooo jealous right now.

Been wanting to throw some goodies on my '08 real bad. Just don't have the money. Well I do, but its for car insurance. $2500 a year is killing me.

Though I've been thinking I might squeeze a bumper in sometime soon. I've been looking at this one. Not too much money and still looks pretty nice. Not to mention I have the option of adding a wench and fog lights later if I come across some more money.

I was also looking at those Duratracs for my next tire change. How are you liking them so far?

Nice, you have to do what is best for your wallet

I really like the Duratracs. They're definitely quiet on the roads (one of the reasons why I went with them). They also look great, but, sad that the 33"s are killing my fuel economy and acceleration. I can't imagine people with 35" and 37" wheels.

I already have 33'x11.50"s on mine. I feel your pain. I'm getting 14.8 in town and 15.6 on the highway going to work, according to the eco thing in odometer. When my dad was driving it to work he was putting over $800 a month in it just for gas.

But, it's a Jeep, so I can't really complain haha.

I probably ought to get wheels before the bumper though. I rub the brake cables with my 33's when I turn it all the way. Need some wheels with more backspacing.
