Not sure if you read far enough back in the waiting room, but when they first started running hydro at the factory, Archer came in and told us if sexy was a color, it would be hydro!

The GraBars are made and sold by Welcome Distributing. Several of the forum vendors also sell them. I got mine from Krawl-Off-road.

Yep, I remember that! I was lurking on the forum at that point and wasn't sure what model or color I wanted to order. I was literally just a few days from ordering when the Polar was announced! So BAM, I pulled the trigger on a Hydro Blue Polar JK.

I am SO happy with hydro! Mike even said that if it had been available last year he probably would have gotten IT instead of his billet.

I wish I could have gotten it in a straight Sport-S, but what are you gonna do? When it's released on all models in January I'll have some egg on my face for talking Mike into getting the Freedom Edition. But I've loved this jeep MORE in the few weeks I've had it than I've ever loved any other car I've had, including my Mustang! (It was only an LX 4 cylinder! )

I loved cosmos in all the pictures I saw, but knowing that hydro had the pearl in it just made it THAT much better in my opinion. I finally saw a cosmos parked in a dealer's lot on Saturday and I am definitely not a huge fan of the flat, Easter egg tone. It's still a nice color, just not my first choice after seeing hydro.

Can't wait to see pictures of yours and hear what you do to it once you get it!

Hopefully for Black Friday we will be able to get a good deal on Mike's 35s, so I can have his 33s. Then I'm hoping Santa will bring me some ACE sliders, a Rampage recovery bumper or a lift!

I've been good this year, I promise! Or at least I tried...
Was colored fender not an option for your order?

On the Freedom Edition you couldn't order black fenders. It was set from the factory to come with body colored fenders. If I could have ordered it that way, I would have done it because to me the black fenders just make a jeep a jeep.

Yeah I totally would have preferred black fenders - but the color matched ones don't look that bad on the Hydro

They have been growing on me, too. I've just had this picture of what he SHOULD look like in my head for so long now that I can't get over it.

I think to with the black wheels and bigger tires the black fenders will look sweet!

I love certain shades of blue and Hydro is certainly a knock out color, but it wasn't my original pick. My wife's Rock Lobster Red JKUS has black leather and I was set on getting saddle leather because I didn't want both of our Jeeps being identical on the interior. I was leaning towards AMP'd and the Rubicon X until it was announced saddle leather was not available. Then I decided to fall back to a Sahara so I could get the saddle leather. I was literally a few days away from placing my order when the Polar became available and when I showed it to my wife she told me that she REALLY liked that color and had never really liked AMP'd. Even though it's not going to be her DD, and even with no saddle leather I decided to pull the trigger on the POLAR. Hydro is certainly a color I will be proud to drive and if my wife is happy I am happy. LOL

So, after reading this you are probably wondering why I didn't just go with a regular Rubi to get saddle leather!! Last March when we went to purchase our first Jeep I was dead set on purchasing a MOAB edition. I had done months of research on the different models and stuck on the MOAB because it was different and I liked the options it offered (especially the power dome hood). The dealer had a Dune MOAB and I thought that would be the one we would own until we saw the Rock Lobster Red Sahara they had just received. My wife informed me that the RL Red Sahara was what she wanted as her DD so that was it. Okay, so goodbye power dome hood and hello RL Red Sahara. Basically the moral to this paragraph is that I don't like the standard hood on stock Jeeps thus the reason for wanting the Rubi X.

Now to get back on subject, here came the Polar with the power dome hood just like the MOAB! In fact the MOAB and Polar share a lot of the same options (bumpers being the main difference). Okay, sweet, I will give up saddle leather in order to get the power dome hood. My wife REALLY likes the Hydro, I like Hydro Blue as well and at some point if I want different colored seats then I have options on changing to a different colored leather. As far as bumpers, they are easily replaced as well. In fact the Rampage Recovery bumper will be one of my early mods.

Two weeks ago we saw a HB Polar on a dealers lot in Louisiana and we were both very happy with the way it looked. Hydro Blue is a sexy color and I'm sure all of us driving HB Jeeps will turn many heads as we cruise down the road......

I agree 100%.

A few days after I got my jeep UPS came to the house to deliver a package. There were two guys in the truck. As the second guy was climbing in, the first guy told him, "DAMN, I LOVE that jeep!"

New update:

Dealer just called and told me my mineral grey wheels have been ordered! With the holiday this week, he doesn't expect them to come in until next week. But order confirmation is a HUGE step in the right direction!

Nice looking Hydro so far, Star. I've got Ace Sliders on the way for mine as well. The step in/out is more than I thought it would be with a 2.5" lift and 35's . Plus, sliders look pretty cool anyway .

Thanks, Jon! I LOVE the way ACE sliders look with the Rubi rails. I didn't realize how unfinished the pinch seam looked until Mike got a set of takeoffs and put them on with his ACE rails. Now it looks great!

Me, too, although they won't last long. LOL

As soon as Mike gets his 35s I'm switching to his 33s! It's a little tight without the lift, but I'm willing to suffer!

Thanks, MnJK! We were just talking about Braveheart last night! Mike originally said I should name my jeep William Wallace in Braveheart's honor. When I told him he was Scotch Mike said that's okay. He had already planned to buy me a windshield decal for it that says 'Paddy Wagon'.

Heh. That's a really cute idea. Now if I need another place to put a sticker with numbers, I can use my Irish ancestor's badge numbers. They were Brooklyn cops.

Yeah, Mike ran his that way for about a month. Only time he had a problem was when he made a super hard turn. But for normal street driving, it was fine. I didn't realize you were running without a lift! Man, I must be blind. LOL

If the UPS men love ME, I'll have more serious issues with my husband to deal with.

Yeah I can do a full lock turn with no rubbing at all. This is after I installed the wheel spacers.

What lift are you planning on doing?

Mike didn't do the spacers, since he already had the lift in the garage, he just had to wait for my brother in law to help him install it. Figured I'd just do the same.

Planning on a TeraFlex 2.5" coil lift with Rancho 9000xl shocks. Got the shocks during Shocktoberfest, now just need the lift!

What do you all think about swapping the Oscar Mike star out for a bigger triquetra (the knot on the side panel)? Was thinking about having it blown up to the same size as the OM star, it's got a circle around it, like the star .....

I'd get it in reflective black, same as the stickers I've already bought...

I'd get it in reflective black, same as the stickers I've already bought...
Definite conversation starter, might be a little pricey getting that much vinyl...maybe if it was done in a couple pieces?

IMO it would look great but, makes for a lot of conversations...I know I get asked about the little bit of writing on both of the older Jeeps frequently....the '04 LIL RED the question is, "why do you call it little when it is almost 4"s of lift on 33"s? or "what does LIL mean" followed by the other question.

And the '12 (TRU BLU) it is frequently, "You know you spelled that wrong", or "I thought the "True Blue" color was darker than that" or "what does Tru Blu mean"?

These are not actually "bad" things, just comments that happen when we change or make our Jeeps "different". IMO the more stickers, or writting you have on your Jeep the more questions you will be asked......

Sorry, should have explained better. I definitely meant doing it in panels, like the original star. I am all for doing whatever it takes to lower the cost.

I won't mind people asking questions, but I fear THEY may be sorry as they're walking away from my 30 minute family/historical monologue...

Mike has the 'caution... ejection seats' warning stickers on his doors. You wanna talk about getting stopped and questioned?

Yeah I like the "ejection seats" stickers, also someone had wired their seat heaters to them...was that Mike?

Yeah I understand about long explanations, have seen the glazed over look more than once when i was trying to explain something....but maybe it will also start conversations and not just history lesson? not trying to be mean (I hate how things don't sound "right" when typed versus a conversation that is spoken).........but could easily turn into a topic of discussion heritage and give other people the "bug" to mod their Jeep in a manner that means something....even if just to THEM.....isn't that why we "mod" our Jeeps to begin with for us and to do/ be what we want it to?
