I figured it's about time I started my build thread, since now the name will make sense...
On September 12, 2013 I ordered my first jeep, a 2014 Freedom Edition in Hydro Blue Pearl. It finally arrived at the dealership after spending eleven days in Kirby, Texas.
And now for today's mods... and the title now makes sense!
Removing the double stick tape on those OscarMike badges was a pain in the !!!
Got the black reflective decals from pixeldecals.com. They look REALLY nice when they light up... I wish I could get it to show up nicely in a picture.
I am subscribed! Star I love the customization so far. We are kindred spirits I think. You celebrating the Irish and me the Scottish. Gotta go to pixel decals myself. I cant decide if my Jeep is going to be a Mountain or Beach Jeep, so that will set the tone for how i customize.
BTW, I was looking to purchase a set of those very tail light guards you removed. If you haven't gotten rid of them, shoot me a PM and lets talk.
nice !!! a build thread finally !!! i have two questions for you. how hard was it to install those grabars? they seem like it would be easy, but i read on here SOME people had problems wit them.
also what that logo on the fenders you put on. looks good by the way :beerdrinking:
The GraBars can be a little bit of a pain to install. Just have to have patience and go slow. You can only thread each bolt two or three turns, then switch to the other bolt for two or three turns, till you get them tightened up. DEFINITELY worth it though. I can't say enough good things about them. Make sure you order the grips though. The new powder coat is a little rougher than the originals was, so the grips are definitely called for. It would be nice if Ken would either create a package deal WITH the grips or just raise the price $10 and include them...
The whole Celticon/Celtic knot theme is in honor of my Irish heritage. The blue is the for the color the Celtic warriors painted their bodies before going into battle.
The logo I used is a Celtic Knot, symbolizing the Trinity. There are multiple trinities to which it can be ascribed. There are a couple that fit for me, but I haven't picked just one yet... but traditionally it stood for the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and the Holy Ghost). I am going for one of the NOT religiously tied trinities.
It's fun. It's not a theme I've seen anyone else do, and being Irish is very important to me. An Irish jeep is more my speed than a superhero or other character based themes. With the whole warrior thing, I think my jeep is definitely a male. :lmao:
Seriously though, the mods you've done are way more than what I've done so far... so I have NO room to talk! Once you get the GraBars you'll just wish you had done it sooner!

Hopefully for Black Friday we will be able to get a good deal on Mike's 35s, so I can have his 33s. Then I'm hoping Santa will bring me some ACE sliders, a Rampage recovery bumper or a lift!
I've been good this year, I promise! Or at least I tried...
Star, great start on the "warrior". Looking forward to seeing it in person on Saturday. Remember that Ace is supposed to be having a 25% off with free shipping this week. Will be ordering their back bumper as soon as the sale starts. See ya Saturday.
Congrats!! Looks real good...and yeah I am 'scribed...want to see the mods you do...hadn't seen the Grabars....gonna have to look for and show those to wife the Polar is hers...her 90 year old Mother might find those easier to get in the Jeep.
Thanks, JP! The GraBars are DEFINITELY the way to go for your mother in law. If I remember correctly Ken, the guy who designed them, designed them specifically for HIS mother when she asked him where her handle was to use climbing in.
Don't get me wrong, the paracord type handles have their uses, but for someone who NEEDS a hand getting in and out the paracord handles leave you feeling like you're swinging on a trapeze!
Very cool theme!! Will definitely be one of a kind. May be a dumb question, but I keep thinking of the movie Braveheart and how they painted themselves blue, if I'm remembering correctly. Were they Celtic? Maybe you can find some coo. Carrier for some shields and spears and no one will dare mess with you on the road, haha.
Thanks, MnJK! We were just talking about Braveheart last night! Mike originally said I should name my jeep William Wallace in Braveheart's honor. When I told him he was Scotch Mike said that's okay. He had already planned to buy me a windshield decal for it that says 'Paddy Wagon'. :lmao:

Dealer just called and told me my mineral grey wheels have been ordered! With the holiday this week, he doesn't expect them to come in until next week. But order confirmation is a HUGE step in the right direction!
