I think he already did. Front went up to his A-pillar and rear went to the passenger-side taillight.

Thanks! Just ended up reading some instructions on one of the forums. Install went pretty smooth. I'll have pictures updated sometime soon.

Yes I did! I still need to do my transfer case breather and transmission breather though.

I didn't take anymore pics of the install and honestly it was just a crazy idea that turned out to be a really big hit. Basically you need a CB that will fit and I used Uniden 520XL Pro. You also need to remove the locking device. After that you unscrew the sides of the center console and you'll see how it all comes apart. Lined up where I wanted the CB in the console and ran the screws in from the side into the CB holes. Then I remounted the sides of the center console so you couldn't see the screws. For the wiring I took a drill bit and just made a hole big enough to run the coax and the other wiring down the side of the center console. You can still hear the CB like this but you may want to look into an external speaker mount because it is kind of dull. Decided to do an external speaker down by my feet and cut a square hole out and mounted some plastic mesh. If there's something that doesn't make sense let me know and I'll snap some pictures. Sorry I didn't get more pictures during the install!

Did the Coast front drive shaft install. It was pretty straight forward and I'm glad we got it done when we did because it was spitting grease at the boot pretty good:

You can see in this picture the grease splattered:

Got the flange off and noticed the pinion seal was leaking and the seal didn't look so hot. This is where we ran into our problem because it seems no one carries this seal except the dealer ($27, Part # 68004072AA) and after we ran around checking Napa, Autozone, and Lee Auto Parts we finally had to bite the bullet and buy it from the dealer.

Old pinion seal:

New pinion seal installed :

Put the new yolk on and torqued to 160 lb/ft:

Also put the new yolk on at the output shaft on the transfer case and torqued to 130 lb/ft (notice the grease from the old drive shaft boot):

New and old drive shaft laid side by side for comparison :

Got it all installed :

Also figured since we were already right next to it that the transfer case needed a little love also:

The fluid that came out was a dark maroon color so I'm glad we changed it.

Jeep rides with no vibration anymore and really happy with how quickly the install was. :2thumbsup:

No, I have not and I think that's going to have to be the next thing, huh?

Good, I'm glad it helped you! I think my pockets need a break for a little bit but then a couple weeks/months go by and I start itching again. Everyone has been asking about fenders so now I'm considering those instead of a rear drive shaft, winch, and lighting like I thought I'd be!

Don't know why the U-joints would be shot already, I just put a new front drive shaft in. Maybe it's my pinion angle with the new shaft?

Axle u-joints

Clicking is usually u-joint related. My joints are bad. Currently in the shop now.

Gave Northridge a buzz for some more information and they suggested checking the rear drive shaft because that could be the issue. Also suggested pulling the front and driving and seeing if the vibration is still there because then I should change pinion angle.

You might have to give up caster for pinion.
Just the price you have to pay when running a front double carden.

FYI I am currently at 3 degrees pinion.
The stock JK housing has 6 degrees sep between caster/pinion. This puts me at 3 caster.

RK Has the front lowers set for caster.

I think 23" bolt to bolt.

You most likely need to bring your pinion up (shorten lowers)

U-joints don't like more then 3 degrees separation.

Have to put a new front lower control arm in anyway. Rock Krawler warrantied it out because their powder coating on it was chipping and pealing away like crazy so this will be a perfect time to just shorten them 2-3 threads.

Thanks I'm very glad it helped. I'll post as many pics as I can when I do things, nothing in the near future though. Kinda just waiting for things to break at this point but I am keeping my eye on my rear drive shaft and still debating a regear.

Looks like the powder coating on one of my Rock Krawler control arms isn't bonding well at all. Snapped a picture before I scraped it off and sprayed it with rustoleum rust reformer. Shot Northridge4x4 an email just bringing it to their attention just so Northridge could inform Rock Krawler if they had a bad batch go out or something. A couple days later a new control arm was at my door, got to love Northridge's customer service and that lifetime warranty from Rock Krawler

Also picked up this book:

My father and I are hoping to make a MOAB trip this year or next and right now we have a ton of work to do on the XJ. But the book is awesome! Saw someone suggested it on the forum and figured I'd give it a shot but it is very informative and has maps and even what your odometer will be reading when you are about to encounter a new obstacle and how to handle that obstacle.
