Hey guys. Im going to be starting to build up my new-to-me 2010 2 door jk sport. Little background first.. My family is a wrangler family. We all had a wrangler at one time or another and we love them.

This was the most recent group pic before I bought the new jeep. My moms new 10a also. Missing a few wranglers but you get the picture.

The addiction to jeeps started a few years ago in college, when I traded my sister my ford explorer for new 1990 wrangler. (she didnt like 5-speed.) So my love all started with this bad boy:

And after 3 years.. on a college kid budget.. I built this:

Anyway.. I graduated college in Dec with my accounting job all lined up, so I went ahead and pulled the trigger on my 2010!

At the dealership:

And at my parents house:

It came pretty stock, but with the 32-ish inch bfg km1s, rear tail-light guards, and the gas cap guard(?) thing, (drawing a blank on what its called). Other than that, stock. Had around 32k on the odometer and I was sold! I will post a lot of pics as I go! Check out my 1990 yj build in my sig and you will see.. I document EVERYTHING I do.

Here is what I have planned for the build so far:

35inch Goodyear MTR's with Kevlar
15x8 level 8 trackers
teraflex 2.5inch budget boost
Flat fender Flares (unsure of the brand)
A rear bumper/spare tire carrier.. (unsure of brand)
Aftermarket Front Bumper (unsure of brand)
and more..

The 35 Kevlars on level 8 trackers and the budget boost are already bought and on their way! Thats why im starting my build thread!

I know Im very vague on what I want... but I research everything a lot before I purchase. With my new job, I can buy a part or two almost every month probably since I have the biggest two items already bought. Stay tuned!

Thanks! Love having a rust free jeep to start on.. ordered the tires from discount tire direct yesterday, and they should be here Wednesday or Thursday. The lift will hopefully be here before Friday so I can install this weekend. Working in public accounting during tax season gives me one day off a week. If its not here this week I may have to wait another weekend.. but it will get done!

Well that's a nice looking jeep you have there. I always enjoyed watching builds.. my last build was fun but on such a tight budget. Now I have a looser budget, and a nice jeep to work on. I'll post a lot of pics! Check out my last build in my signature if u wanna see my first build!

Thanks! I think I may go either front or rear bumper/tire carrier next. Still up in the air. the huge 90lb tire does fit on the back but barely. I have always liked the stinger or mini stinger-type bumper that come to a rounded point on the end. Just trying to figure out which route to go I guess. Also. front and rear bumpers make the jeep look and feel a lot more "aftermarket". Along the same lines, I may go smittybilt flat fender flares. gives the jeep a whole new look for only about $250. That is an easy buy. just trying to research and see what I really want next. Any more suggestions and I am welcome to them! :D

Bought the smittybilt flat flares! :) they look great in person! Hoping to get them on tomorrow! Also.. have two new decals going on.. one is a memorial decal for my buddy who past away a few years while in the navy, n the other is one that says "I drive a hybrid, it burns gas and oil" lol. Should be great when everything is on :)

Ok so since my last post, I have the smittybilt flat flares on! Also, have two new decals :) will post pics in a few minutes! I also re cut my fender inner liner to protect the jeep from mud and stuff.

Ok, as promised, the pictures! I wish more people were following my build D: lol. oh well! hopefully these pics and some upcoming info will get more people to bite! Pics:

Here are a few from the install of the smittybilt flat flares!

And here are a few when the girlfriend and I were out and about right after install.

So All in all, I really do like the look of the smittybilt flat flares. Very simple ad minimal. Install was fairly simple. Nothing terribly difficult about it. The ony thing i didnt love was that the flares didnt line up very well with everything. but with a little effort you can make them look good. My only concern while installing was that in the front, where the flares come to a point at the grille, they didnt sit flush with the grille and it really bothered me.. Took some vice-grips to them and it now looks great. After looking at the pics front straight on.. I realize how badly I need a front bumper :p lol

Oh and im not sure if anyone really cared or wanted reviews or details about my installs but I made a mess of the inner fender liners because they come off with the stock flares. I left the back ones off because I just plan on bedlining that when i get a chance. The front ones I kind of cobbed together using zip-ties and things around the garage. Im satisfied.. mostly because now a bunch of mud and crap wont fly into my engine bay.

I also added a few decals over the last couple of weeks also.. One is a decal I have in memory of my friend who lived a life way too short. The other is one i saw on amazon for $3 shipped to my door. Had to buy it. I will take some good pics tomorrow since i have to add my smittybilt decal aswell! :D

Would love to hear what you guys think of the build so far. I have 3-4 major purchases left to finish the bigger items. (front bumper, rear bumper + tire carrier, rocker guards, and maybe roof-rack/body armour) Then I get to do some other fun stuff.. (I get creative with small purchase/budget mods.) :D stay tuned!

I'm basically working on what u did, but the only thing I haven't decided on are my wheels. What wheels are those? I'll post some pics once I get anything done but I've only put on a trektop nx which was very important to me with Florida weather changes. Looks great, especially when u change out that bumper

#28 ·
Looking good! Do you have ideas about what you want for your upcoming projects? Like which tire carrier, rocker guards etc.

#29 ·
thanks! And yes I do have ideas but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I want the bfh front trail stinger, smittybilt rockers.. but haven't quite decided on a rear bumper/carrier combo yet :\ these ideas aren't finalized either.. hopefully will be selling the km1s that I took off soon, got a end-of-tax-season bonus coming soon, and this months works out to have 3 bi-weekly paychecks :D :D :D soooooooooo hopefully be pulling the trigger on something soon.. suggestions or advice? Always welcome :) thanks for checking out my build :)
