1997 college kid build

Hey guys, so I recently picked up a 1997 tj 4.0l 5speed for $5500 and I think I got a great deal on it. The jeep came from California a few months ago so it hasn't really been exposed to the New York winter yet which means NO RUST! I got it with a 3" zone lift which is nice. It rides really nice and I can't wait to get home from school to put it on the road! Here's some pics of it
When I got it

As soon as I got it home I put my 32" Nankang Mudstars on American racing rims on

The next day I put on the clear markers, headlight conversions, windshield lights and diamond plate light brackets, restored the fenders and hardtop to black and compounded and waxed it

There's much more to come, I plan on definitely getting rid of the front tube bumper and getting the matching SRC bumper since the rear has it so the bumper is for sale if anyone's interested

Let me know what you guys think! This is my third wrangler

the first one I sold because I thought I wanted a car again and then missed having the wrangler so I then bought my previous one which I found had extensive frame rot and needed a new frame, it was beyond the frame repair kits, so I sold it and bought this one which is in great shape

Hopefully 3rd time is the charm. What do you think will be your next modification?

definitely want to get the SRC front bumper to match the rear and check the flex to make sure the bump stops are proper length so I don't blow the shocks off road. After that probably some extra lights and a soft top for the summer

That's nice. Currently I need to replace a front bump stop. Damn thing broke off and the bolt is stuck. I'll have to tap it and hopefully just have to replace the bolt.

Thinking about a winch?

Really nice, love the AR wheels... and the blue. Is that patriot blue? I have a CJ8 painted that color, but I still love my Red TJ. I can appreciate the college kid budget...

It is patriot blue. I love the color! My brother has a chili pepper red tj so I can appreciate the red as well. I am thinking about a winch also when the time comes for it. Maybe during the summer once everything else is done.

I know I haven't posted in a while but I got a lot done on my jeep since I've been home
For one it was put on the road lol but I got an xrc style front bumper with d-rings, put warn fog lights on it, wired the floor lights and have led cubes coming today hopefully, put a cb radio in the center console, extended tire carrier installed, flowmaster super 44 muffler installed sounds great, and also got a bikini top since it doesn't have the roll bar brackets for a soft top. I think it's really coming together nicely, what do you all think?

Really has been a while since i posted here. Got a few more things done to the jeep and took her to Rausch Creek Offroad Park in Pennsylvania! That was a blast but really got me wanting many more things for her.

I definitely can see a 1-1.25" body lift with a 1" motor mount lift in the near future to get rid of the transfer case drop. I hit the skid a few times when crossing in the waters. I'm doing the internal frame coating this weekend to help prevent rust from the salts here in NY before this bad winter comes. I'm at school so it will be a slow build but a build none the less!

It's been a while since I posted up on here. Have been busy with school but over my winter break I was able to get some more done in the jeep. I installed -OME 4" front heavy springs to level it out -metalcloak front adjustable track bar to get rid of the rough country one I had -replaced the soft top with one from an 05 in khaki because I got it for a steal (all factory hardware and door surrounds with the top and bestop half doors for $150) -Installed rough country fixed lower control arms in the front to help caster angles. These will be getting replaced in the summer with adjustable metalcloaks but were a gift so they're on for now. -installed a badlands 9000lb winch (got it for $225) it's worked well for when I needed it so no complaints yet. -installed a cobra cb radio in the center console with their flush mount antenna mount and a 4 ft firestik my dad gave me with a cobra external speaker. Good work! I'm in the same situation, college kid that just got a 2001 TJ. I'm forced to park it for most of the week, can't wait for the summer.

thanks! I have big plans for it this summer also. I'm also sick of the cold, snow and especially the salt and can't wait for doors and top off weather
