I picked this Jeep up last Friday. Traded my XJ for it actually. I have some plans for it, so figured I'd start a build thread. May be a slow build, I close on my new house next week so I'm sure the majority of my time and money will be going towards that.

But anyway, this is the Jeep.

1997 4.0 auto
142k
3.5 Procomp lift
33" BFG AT
Warn sliders
Rigid lights
D30/D35 open/open
No top, no doors, no a/c

Previous owner was a kid who doesn't seem to have maintained it well. Filthy dirty, covered in stickers, ghetto wiring job on the lights, things held together with duct tape. Day one was spent peeling off stickers and stripping residue.

Near future plans are a locked 8.8 in the rear and maybe a Lockright in the front D30. Also need a roll cage. A SYE and 35" mud terrains would be good too.

Day 2

Oil change
Fixed a/c (no refrigerant, broken blend door)
Put on my old tube doors

Day 3

Previous owner sprayed the entire interior with rattle can bedliner. It looks like crap and is impossible to clean. I ordered Monstaliner and began the miserable process of getting this old bedliner out of here. Bought a jug of Jasco paint stripper, a paint scraper, and some steel wool. Going to take a few days to get the whole thing done.

I was on the fence about trading for this Jeep but then I saw that Chapstick under there... and the other guy didn't seem to know about it. So I sealed the deal real quick and got out of there before he had a chance to remember. He's probably so pissed. It's Cherry and at least half full.
