1999 TJ College kid build

I recently bought my 1999 Wrangler 4.0 Manual on October 10th while I was actually still in school, but it was close to where I live and I feel I got a pretty fair deal. I paid $4400 for it, it had some rust but no rot yet and ran well. It was completely bone stock which is what I was looking for so I can assure everything is going to be done right. Has 153k miles.

I plan on doing most of the work on it during my 6 week winter break from school.
What I have done so far:
-POR15 frame and internal frame coating (need another coat of POR15 though)
-Changed headlights to H4 conversion bulbs and clear side markers
-Bought four 6 inch off road lights and possibly getting another two.
-Bought a small front bumper hoop for mounting 2 lights
-Windshield light mount brackets
-5 15x8 Pro-comp black alloy rims
-New header because the old one is cracked
-10 inch infinity self-amplified subwoofer
-Picked up a set of '13 JKU springs and shocks that were used for 30 miles for $90
-Set of 2 inch spring spacers (only to put on the front jku springs) free from a forum member

What I still need to buy:
-four new 33" duratracs and find a 33" spare tire
-new tinted tan soft top to replace the old, slightly ripped one
-new radio, old one works but screen does not work
-possibly new speakers
-possibly a rear bumper with tire carrier if i find a good deal
-change all of the fluids

Over the winter break I plan on installing everything so by the time I come back from school after the spring semester she will be sitting just how I want her to
It's going to be a lot of time, money, and work but me, my brother, and my father (who we all own wranglers) enjoy doing this stuff so not a big deal for me.

Pictures will be posted as the work begins, first thing I plan on doing is the lift and tires

Definitely going to be keeping up with this, I bought a 2002 4.0 Auto with frame rust and ~170k Miles. Also in college and on a pretty tight budget. Keep up with the good work!

Hey, I'm thinking of doing the jk coils on my jeep and I was wondering if there was anything that you had to do to the coils or mounts to get them to fit?

I was told that just using extended bump stops in the rear will allow the coils to fit, I will let you know on Sunday after I attempt it, the front coils are an exact fit

Pretty sure I got it from google, anyway, I study at Stony Brook University, and I had sold my 2004 grand Cherokee limited before starting this whole project, so money isn't too much of an issue since I found great deals on most of my parts

Started the lift tonight, bolts that haven't been removed in 15 years and are rusted don't like to come off, had to cut the old shock bolts off, only have the drivers side front done, finishing the rest tomorrow

Nice. We adapted that logo for our group/club "American Jeepers". But that's nice for starting out. Cash runs out quick with these things though. Enjoy the lift install they are always fun and full of surprises.

At least you look like you're in a garage. Did mine over 2 days in the rain + 40 degrees. Not the best of times. Rusty bolts aren't gona be your friend.

The brackets were $30 off of quadratec and the lights ran me $90 for 8 lights (my brother bought two of them from me) I got them off of eBay, I will try to find the link and I'll send you it

Found a great deal on basically new 33x12.5 bfg KM2's with dick cepek rims, 4 km2's and 1 bfg mud terrain for the spare, $750 for that and a 1 inch transfer case drop, had to pick them up

WOW! The Jeep was looking good before, but those tires and rims really set it off!

Thanks man! Sadly work can only get done on the weekends so I try to do as much as I can in the three days I can work on it, still have to get relays for the lights to finish wiring them up and then put the transfer case drop on, pretty bad vibes, also have to install the front adjustable track bar and rear track bar relocation bracket if they come in by then. Also new bushings for the rear track bar since the old ones are shot
