1999 TJ Rebuild

Hey guys, I just recently joined the forum. I was once a member of a few of these forums back in the day when I first bought my Jeep back in 2001, but I've been away for a while as my Jeep has been stored away in a garage for the last few years. It was driven a lot as an everyday vehicle (109,000 miles) and I was afraid it may had seen its day as the body, wheels and tires were in pretty bad shape. However, the straight-six engine was in perfect running order. This Jeep was the first thing I had ever paid off in my life. I met my wife while driving it and I've had a ton of great memories while driving around with friends, etc. There was a lot of sentimental value with this Jeep and I couldn't stomach just selling it in the sad shape it was in. Instead I researched some local body shops and came across a full-service shop who was a complete standout amongst the rest. They have a ton of awards under their belt and are true professionals. I took the Jeep to them back in March of 2012 and they worked on it for 7 months, turning it into a one of a kind Jeep that I'm really proud of. I just got it back from them about a month ago. I'm excited to share it with you guys and to be a part of the forum. I attached a link to the build process if you'd like to take a look. Looking forward to getting it out into some mud! Take care.

I'm just going to go ahead and say...WOW! That is one mean looking TJ. I just repainted my interior all black and I was feeling pretty good about my stealth Jeep...but yours just blew me away.

It was a long process but the shop did it the right way. I probably could have done without the regearing, posi, etc, but in the end having things properly built to handle the 35" tires was the right choice I think. The hardest thing was finding someone to insure it. I struggled for weeks with no luck and finally spoke to Progressive. Progressive will insure pretty much anything and will insure above and beyond Blue Book if you can provide pictures and reciepts. Got the same coverages I was getting with Allstate, but quite a bit more in premium since Allstate was only insuring it as a stock 1999 Jeep Wrangler ($8,500 or so). Progressive was able to insure not only the Blue Book value of the Jeep, but also all the mods that were added. If anyone out there is looking to insure their custom Jeeps, I would highly suggest contacting Progressive. Chubb, State Farm, Hagerty, and a bunch of other specialty insurance places would not do it. Progressive was the only one.

Thanks for the kind words by the way. It's not as cool as some of the rebuilds I've seen on here, but for me it's good enough. Take care, guys.
