Hello all! This is the my build and things aiming the modofications towards expedition due to its my daily driver.
I started out with a 2002 tj sport with the inline 6 4.0L, manual transmission, and it came stock with a Dana 44 rear axle with a limited slip. One of the first upgrades was bought bigger tires and I did that by buying a set of take-offs from a jeep jk and that bumped up my tires size up to 31". Although I did have to get 4.5"x5 to 5"x5 adaptors. I'm still in sure about this but they work great for the time being.
Then once you get bigger tires a lift always comes later so that was the next step. Then I liked the look of the white Jeeps with a black grill so I decided to plasti dip to decied if I like it. I have left it on there for a while and I think it looks good, so I will get a matte black 2 part epoxy paint to paint the grill. I also wanted some more light while driving mountain roads so I got a cheapy Chinese light bar, it works and puts out some good light but I wanted better lights. So I saved up and bought a pair of JW speaker headlights I got them for $500. They were expensive and there were other ones but I found with those it was either a hit or miss and it was a hassle to get then replaced. So I decided to bite the bullet and get the JW speakers because I didn't really find a bad review besides the flickering on the JK models. They have been on there for about a mounth and it was an awesome lighting upgrade.
I really like them and I would put them on the top of the list of recommended headlights. They have a great beam pattern with a lot of usable light and they show around corners well. I have a light bar on the front of my jeep before I put these on and I'm moving it to the back now because all it does is light up tree tops. My headlights already cover everything else. The JW speaker headlights are a great choice if you can bring your self to spend the money. There is a series on YouTube that I believe is called headlight revelution and they go through and compair most of the different types of headlights and the JW speakers are also reviewed. The model I got was the 8700 evolution 2. So I would recommend that video series and from my experience LED are the only way to go compaired to an H4/halogen bulb conversion. Does this anser your question?
Now I'm working on making a rear bumper, expedition trailer and front bumper. The design for the rear bumper was alittle tricky but is turning out really cool.
Thanks I like the black and white color theme. I'm building my trailer to haul a Polaris scrambler and be able to haul a week's worth of camping gear for 2 people. So it's is a cross between a expedition trailer and a utility trailer.
I did weld bottom up but I scraficed looks for penitration on my weld, so I knew it would take a beating. Thanks my welding skills are getting better over the duration of the build.
I just got a set of new tires 4 bfgoodrich KO2 tires what are 33" equivalant. They clear the swaybar disconnects by a 1/2" but rib the spring mount under full flex and fully crancked. They are awesome tires so far.
