So the other day I got some LiteDOT LED tail lights. Installed them today in about 2 hours because I was rewiring alot of different things and making sure I could do it in the first place to have a license plate light.

Was fairly easy but would recommend a friend to help.

Here is a picture of the new tail lights compared to the stock ones and then both LiteDOT lights installed with the license relocation bracket and light installed also.

I would post on how i wired it but it would take up about a good while to write it up... will write it up one day but if you have questions just feel free to ask away!!

Well, now you've done it! Attracted a vast amount of noobs and unqualified shade tree mechanics. So I guess I'll fall right inline. First of all props to your LJ and the easy to follow instructions for the lift and other mods. Now for my second question. These guides can be applied to an 05 LJ also...I am assuming?

If someone made a lower profile LED taillight assembly for the TJ that actually included some type of integrated license plate light I would pull the trigger. Don't think anyone does though...........

Haha thanks man. I've ripped into my LJ a lot doing a vast variety of things that I haven't even put on here. But to answer ur question yes all of this information will apply to a 05 LJ. I hope some if the info is helpful and please let me know if any questions may arise!

I don't believe they do a have a integrated one for the TJ but to be honest u can easily modify some stuff up to keep the license plate right where it is stock and still have ur led lights and wire in a run in light for the license plate. If u decide on it let me know, can help u through it bc it was what I was ganna do before I out my license plate on the spare tire

This is not the integrated solution but a substitue.

From Stu-Offroad.com: Link here.

As for the license plate lighting, I picked up a $2 light at AutoZone and tapped it into the tail light wire going to the LED assembly. So, I now have legal lighting on my license plate. This simple task turned into an hour project. The package the light came in states that it snaps into a 1" hole. I stopped at my local Ace Hardware to get some Grade 8 bolts and remembered to pick up a 1" metal cutting hole saw. I drilled the hole and went to pop the light into place.....oops....seems it takes a hole about a 1/4" bigger than what I had made. So much for instructions on the back of the package. Oh well, what can I expect for $2....at least the light lit up when I tried it.

Since Ive put the new LiteDOT taillights in I havent done do much to the jeep but just the other day I got a little gift in the mail and was so happy to see it!!!
It was the new Bestop Trektop NX. I love it so much!

Only bad thing about the top tho is that when I was installing it it started to get cold at night and the fabric was very hard to fit to the jeep and had to pull on it for hours and even use a hair dryer to warm it up.

All in all, compared to the basic frame top I really like the frame less one alot more for the LJ because it gives it more of a aggressive stance on the jeep!

only con about it tho is that when you have all the windows in and you roll your windows down there is a whoooopp whoooppp sound that happens but is something that the company Bestop could do nothing to avoid bc of the design of the frame less top.

It is a good top and was very worth it!!!
If anyone needs a frame top for a LJ i have mine for sale but also if you have any questions about the Trektop NX just let me know and would love to help you out!!!

Ok so for Christmas got some nice and awesome gifts for the LJ. I got a 8k synthetic Smittybuilt XRC winch, poison spyder aluminum fairlead, poison spyder fairlead mount, poison spyder LED light bar fairlead mount and a 10" LED light bar. All of the items I got for very cheap and were all shipped and delivered in 2-4 days. Even the light bar from Hong Kong got here in 2 days!!

Smittybuilt XRC 8k synthetic winch.......$422 Poison Spyder fairlead............................$50 Poison Spyder fairlead mount.................$35 Poison Spyder fairlead light bar mount...$30 10 inch LED Light bar..............................$90 One key note!! As y'all see I have the Poison Spyder brawler bar bumper installed. Just a FYI and some help to people that choice to do this type of set up with a winch you are going to want to install the winch on the bumper prior to installing the bumper on the jeep!!! You will not be able to access the front bolt holes to install the winch with the bumper already installed. Just a helpful note But I hope y'all enjoy this build thread and trust me there will be many more to come and if anyone had any questions please feel free to ask!! Thank you and a happy new year to everyone!

That LJ is looking good. I've never been a fan of the Hi Lift on the hood though. It looks the business, but is a royal pain in the ass to take off when you are knee deep in mud. The best place for a jack is inside the vehicle. I've seen many Hi Lifts mounted to front bumpers (worse place ever), rear tire carriers, hoods. They require a LOT of maintenance due to exposure to the elements. They rust at the first sign of moisture and require regular greasing. I wound up laying mine across the fender wells butted up against the back seat for regular around town driving. I'm still not sure how I'm going to mount it when I hit the trails.

Thanks man!
About the Hi Lift.. I was going back a forth where to put it time after time and I still don't have a rear bumper... Probably next Xmas but for now I put it on the good and I also plasti-dipped the whole Hi Lift. People always have told me that plasti-dipping it would ruin it but to be honest it has preformed great for me. Have used it multiple times when I didn't have a winch and it had held up to the elements very very well. But I agree with you, it is a pain to get it off when knee deep in mud and also I have grown to not like it there. Will probably relocate it somewhere inside like u did!
Thanks for the complements!

Thanks for posting all the photos of your new lights. It helps a lot to see them in use. With the split in the LED headlights, did you have to much to adjust the beams (as in keeping them out of other driver's eyes)?
Nice LJ.

Thank you,

and no adjusting needed (atleast for mine). The low beam cuts off perfectly so it doesnt blind people, but the high beam,,, lol man is it bright, sure would blind people but i always turn it off when around cars lol...

How have you been liking your BFG Mud Terrian's? Are they still the 33x10.5x15LTs?

I'm looking to pick up a LJ shortly and will be lifting it. Was going to run 35's, but I am leaning more towards the 33's because of it being a DD. Just thought I would get your thoughts on them.

Thanks.

To be honest with you i really like the 33x10.5s. they dont make much noise and i like to rock crawl, dont do much mudding, so they are perfect for crawling. I have had them not a little while now and still they look brand new! they do well on the road also!! only thing that i dont like it that i have to regear because the tires are to big for the stock gears. its not something you need to do but would suggest it because it kills ur mpg and also ur get up. so i will be upgrading the gears soon. but over all i love them and highly recommend them!!

There is something that just looks right about a mildly lifted LJ sitting on stock Ravine wheels with 33x10.50 tires. Nice!

Installed some new smittybuilt rock rails that I got for $200. Fairly easy to install but can be a pain in the butt. Rear view Click image for larger version
