I am building my 2006 Rubi unlimited but I am carefully choosing based in the ability to return to stock as the value is higher. Does anyone have a suggestion for fender flares without cutting sheet metal. Going 4" and running 35s.
Check out the metalcloak fender flares. They've got a video on their website that answered every question I had about flares. They're a little pricey but seem to be worth it. I've been researching it all day today bc I'm wanting the same "stock" qualities you are looking for.
Metalcloak or TNT Customs, both very viable options. Personally I am ordering Metalcloak when the time comes. Give them a call and they are extremely helpful and polite. Its actually hard to make them stop talking about Jeeps when on the phone.
Well you are right about the price! But I love the modular approach. Hey it's only money, right? Instead of just getting what I don't want I'll wait for these.
Actually, Metalcloak's fenders are not that pricey at all. Let's brake it down some:
Metalcloak Arched Fenders - $599
Metalcloak 4" Flare - $229 (optional)
Total $599 or $828 pending configuration
Easy to install
PS DeFender High-Line w/ 3" Flare - $579
PS Inner Fenders - $149
Cold Air Intake - $260
Smaller Battery - $100
Misc Other Required Mods - $50
Total - $1,138
Requires mechanical and fabrication skills to install, still a royal pain in the rump though.
I ordered Metal Cloaks just so I could work out my upgrade path and still run 33s.
With my fenders and 33s, I get asked all the time if I have a stock suspension because people are amazed that I'm able to go everywhere that they can go in their 35s and 4+ inch lifts. (Granted I'm not doing anything terribly technical)
Running like this has helped me to focus my upgrade path. In a way it is almost saving me money; I'm not buying parts that I am going to upgrade later.
Additionally, I still have my OEM fenders stashed away in case I ever want to put them on again. This is probably in vain however, as I see myself owning this Jeep until I die.
