FYI as for downshift, I typically keep my jeep in 4th even at 25mph and I can run that gear as fast as the jeep needs to go safely so you don't really need to downshift. ive driven up hills staying in 4th

Cleaned off the heads so I can go get that new gasket from autozone.

Exhaust manifolds will be in on Friday.

Egr plug that I bought off of eBay should also be in on Friday.

Ordered a dipstick tube from NAPA since the other one was apparently broken off inside of the block. Now I just need to find an actual dipstick...

FUN FUN FUN!

Began dissembling the accessories. Getting ready to clean them off. Once I get that done I'm going to begin painting. I'm going with gray and ford blue.

Got the dipstick tube in today.

It just doesn't sound right putting Ford blue on a chevy engine. I would have felt a little better if you just said blue.

Something's got to break on it. It might as well be the paint.

Yes, if something breaks, I would LOVE for it to be the paint. I don't care if all of the paint begins to peel off a day later, if everything works when I'm done with it, I'll be satisfied.

Glad I could be of assistance!

Started working on the wiring harness today.
For those of you that want to know, I'm getting all of my information from Lt1swap.com lots of useful information there.

Once I get the intake manifold back on, il pressure wash the engine so I can begin to prep for paint.

Got all the wires from the PCM, injectors, coils, and the rest of that clipped.

also, wire E2 off of the main fuse block labeled: E2 PNK 1020 Fused Ignition Positive Voltage - Transmission, PCM
It was in blue, so I cut it. Well, its connected to C100. So now I've got a wire that is about a foot long, coming off of a connector that I wont use. meh. I don't know what to do with that.

I've noticed Lt1swap doesn't tell what other wires we need to pass emissions. So I'm a little stumped right there because in my parish we have emissions. Anyone know what wires we need off of C2 do we need to be emission compliant?

does your area sniffer or OBDII test? if only doing the obdII test then just have everything tuned out of pcm

im guessing the sniffer is where they probe the exhaust gas?

But yes, they OBDII test by plugging the car into the computer.

sniffer is for OBDI cars and isn't required on obdII cars. so as long as you have everything burned out of pcm you will be fine.

Well, I guess I wouldn't know which one they do. they hook into the plug under the steering wheel. Unless OBDII is the only one under the steering wheel..

I mean, i want to be compliant with the exceptions of the EGR and rear O2s because aparently they cause problems.

I'm just trying to find exactly what wires I need to send power to and fuse while staying compliant. lol this would be SO much easier if I was making a pure stand alone.

George, you just made a stand alone harness and cleared the other emissions things off?
Do you have inspections?

we have inspection and emissions, my jeep is exempt cause of mileage. even if I wasn't they only plug into the OBDII port and scan it for codes. I have no codes as I wiped them out.

my harness is sorta standalone but its also wired into the Jeep's fuse box

Well, replacement dipstick broke off in the block too. There's $25 wasted. Can't get this one out either. Boy this is going to be fun.

Did get my ls3 manifolds on though.

Will continue working on wiring harness another day. I need some kind of conformation on the rest of the wires on C2. A soon as I get that il be pretty much done with the harness besides putting fuses in line with it.

I'm on the fence about running a water pump fan vs an electric fan. I mean, if I've got space, il probably end up running the water pump fan. But I've got wires in the spots on the PCM plug if I ever want to switch over.

I plan to get all of the emissions sensors burned because I really don't feel like dealing with all of that crap. But I will run a cat.

Woo!

Was supposed to get a pay raise, but the accounting lady has royally screwed up for the past 4 weeks leaving me on my old wage... So the extra money I would be getting isn't coming in. As soon as I start working more things will progress a little faster.

I've decided not to paint the engine. Why? I don't feel like scrubbing and scrubbing the engine. The brackets for the accessories and in no way easy to clean. The engine will run the same whether it's painted or not. Haha.

Still, again I'm debating on the auto trans or manual. Ahhhh *pulls out hair*

Also, I was trying to figure out how to control the AC, but I'm going to try to run it off of the jeep controls.

Alot of people ride the fence on this as well. Most i believe end up going with the electric fan because of the added mass to turn. As if it was that big of a deal its an extra pain to worry about. Just my $.02

I forgot what you are looking at for inspection :/ Makes sense though lol.

This is my problem right now. Recently laid off. Not good for my build. But worse things could happen lol. Hopefully be back at my build by december. What a nightmare

Thought about sending my block to get blasted and painted as well. They want $350 to clean blast and paint the block. Maybe worth it but like you said, it runs the same painted or not

Auto trans dude. Auto. Just me tho... I think you will thank yourself in the long run.
