i have had this jeep for three years and all i have done was put a 3" rough country suspension and a 1" body. other than it been run into the ground before i bought it. needing water pump, thermostat and housing, shocks, exhaust, soft top, TPS, head lights, ect. i had an accident and bent the driver side lower control arm bracket. so i pulled the dana 30 and cut off both lower control arm mounts and replaced them with heavy duty ones from Artec. then i pulled the ring and pinion and replaced it with 4.88 gears and a spartan locker. just a heads up, if your gearing is higher than 3.73 you will need a new carrier for the 4.88 gears. i had 3.07's and i couldn't get the proper back lash due to the stock carrier. new outer wheel bearing assemblies and brakes and she is back under my jeep. the ax15 made a bagging noise in reverse since i owned it, every time i had to back up i was waiting for something to fail. so i replaced it with a new ax15 from quadratec. put a new clutch package in it from LUK. i wasnt happy with the plastic on the thro out bearing. into it this much i put a SYE and drive shaft into it, and a new chain in the transfer case.
now the dana 35 is laying on the ground behind my jeep, waiting for the 8.8 with 4.88's and a elocker. i plan on cutting the upper spring mounts off and welding in relocateded new ones to correct the spring bind.

TJ build

I took her for a ride with the new 8.8 and the Spartan locker up front. I wanted to test out the transfer case with the she and all. Found that I had to re adjust the linkage. So I did that and she wouldn't start. So I replaced everything with the ignition switch. Still nothing, nothing clicked nothing moved when I turned the key. The lights all lit up on the dash. So I traced it down to the starter. Simple replace. So the adjustments to the transfer case linkage is good to go. Spartan locker up front works like it should. So I wired up the Easton elocker and now she is truly 4wheel drive. While I was at it , I pulled some interior plastic and painted it with rubber undercoating. And fed ex showed up with my rims. It's been a good day

Waiting on tires

vGoing to order swampers 35x12.50x15 SSR this Friday. I removed the third brake light in prep for the larger tire. I bought the cragar lock D window wheels in 15x8 with 3.75 back spacing. I replaced my steering gear with a rebuilt one for a 99 Durango. While doing it I noticed the u joint in the lower part of the steering shaft was about to fall out. A new one from quadratec is on its way. That should take the free play out of the steering lol.

8.8

Thanks,
The options I picked on the 8.8 were
Yukon chrome shafts
ECGS brackets
4.88 Yukon gears
Eaton e-locker (I heard mixed reviews on the elocker in the 8.8 not holding up)
Forged yoke that is set up for 1310 u-joint
There gear oil that they use (Lucas)
New brake lines
Solid diff cover
All new axel seals
New E brakes
Flat black paint
$2,763.00 including tax and shipping.
I went with the old brake pads, rotors and calipers, they look great lol

98 tj

My tires were delivered today. I started to mount them on the rims. I had three done and couldn't wait any more to put them on. Good thing, I put one on the rear driver side and then went to put one on the rear passenger side. It would fit. Quadratec sent me three 5x4 1/2 and two 5x5.:pullinghair: so after a phone call I have two coming Monday :censored: here are some picks so far.
