I welded up the tie rod and drag link this weekend. I'm not crazy about how close the drag link joint at the pitman arm is to the tie rod so I either need to get a flat pitman arm or move the steering box forward.
I'm dropping off the d60 tomorrow to have the gears set up. I will probably get the 14 bolt gears setup as we'll this week. It's finally looking like after almost 5 months I may be driving the jeep in the near future

The 14 bolt gears are setup! Not much extra room but everything fits.

Today I replaced the U joints in the dana 60 shafts.

The magnitude of those parts is impressive. So much so, I ALMOST didn't notice your pink pencil and the face down dolly in the u-joint pic

You're not worried at all about smashing the bottom of your pumpkin? Or sucking up any small shavings that might collect in the bottom over time and just wear the gears out further/worse?

I'm going to add another 1/4" plate to the bottom for protection. As for picking up dirt, this jeep will probably only see 1000 miles per year so I'm sure it will last long enough.

It was a huge pain in the ass but the other spring/shock bracket is off the frame.

How did shaving that ring gear work with setting up the gears did you have to do anything different because the wipe would be off just curious great work so far

That far out on the OD of the ring gear there is no pinion contact anyway, others have done it without issue so hopefully I will not have any either. I'm really hoping to have it on the road sometime in April.

The ARB is setup in the front axle now!


Once I put the front axle where I wanted it I realized that the drag link will hit the tie rod with only about 3" of up travel and I had no room for the track bar so today I moved the steering box forward and up.
Old bracket off


Cut the cross member


Modify the old stock bracket and start mocking up

A little closer to the front


2 x 6 for the new front cross member


Small bracket to tie in to the old cross member


Now I have the front axle pushed 4" forward


I will swap out this pitman arm for a flat one to get this end of the drag link a little higher up.

I welded up the cross member tonight and flattened out my Pittman arm and put a slight twist in it.

I got some work done this weekend
Made a track bar bracket for the front axle

Made a front track bar

Started mocking up front CA brackets


5" of front stretch!!!

Looks great man. Nice work on the front stretch too. In trying to decide if I want to flatten the box out it just run an astrobox. I've seen guys get 2-3 with stock box just flat not forward. I've heard of guys getting 8 Inches out of an Astro box but I don't need that much. I am going to try and get as much out it the stock box as I can I think but at the same time trim the front crossmember back a little bit with something better than that stock tube. Still need to read some more on it and select my front axle choice. Builds coming along very nice though I hope to check it out soon.
