Before and after :D

Keep in mind im still in highschool haha and only had a camp job for about six weeks, so my budget as super low.
But this is how far i got for after owning a jeep for about 6 months.
Did all the work myself.
Most of the things i did to it i got my ideas from this very forum.
There will be more to come i have a very long list.

Like the black look. I'm thinking about getting some black rims myself.

I like the cut fender flares. Look much better IMO kind of gives it a bit of a lifted look. I did it to mine too!

All i really did is pay for the crager 8s and installed them with the camp money. I got the mirrors from a junkyard off a yj. Then everything else i just painted and paint is pretty cheap

How many cans of paint did you get to do your hardtop. Mines a faded tan and I'd love to paint it black.

First i made a jig out of wood. It was shaped like an "L" so that i could run it on the edge of the fenders and it had a pencil on top so it would draw a line about an inch and a half up. Once i had that line i took a boxcutter and gently scored the fenders. Then i ran the boxcutter about 3 more times going deeper and deeper. Then eventually the fenders peeled right off. And for the finished look i got some door edge molding from autozone and lined the fenders.

I think 5 is a safe bet, i used krylon fusion. I did 3 coats. You probably dont need as much cause your top isnt white im quessing, but you could always use the extra paint on the flares.

Did you even prime it or just scuff up the surface cleaned it up nice and sprayed? And I don't need to paint the flares. I'm saving up for some modern classic enterprise flatty fenders and taking the rear flares off. No tire coverage law in New York.

Uhhh i cleaned it for like and hour with water soap, more water less soap then more water, then i used a scotch brite pad and sanded the whole thing with that.
then i used some more water and a nice clean rag.
Then i ran paper towel all over it to see if i had any more dirt.
And finally a cotton cloth to take whatever dust off that was still on there.
Then i just went with the paint, no primer nuthin its been like 3 months and it's still blacker than most jeeps with hardtops i see. Didnt fade at all.

I've been a year out of highschool so I'm feeling the whole tight budget thing. Pinching your pennies does miracles though. Thats how I got the 350 and 700r4.

Look for an older bike that needs a little fixing. Thats what I did with mine. All the aluminum had corrosion on it. It sat outside under a tarp for 2 years and the owner just passed away. I bought it from his wife for 200 bucks, rebuilt the carbs, polished up the aluminum got rid of the ugly farrings and fenders its turning out to be a nice bike and i havent spent over 200 bucks yet on fixing it up. 1980 yamaha xs850 triple.

I'm out 400 beans for both of them. 80,000 on them both, runs, and shifts perfectly. I had to do a lot of talking to get him down to that though.

Its tough to get the good stuff for the jeep man. I have my insurance coming up 600 beans out of my pocket, and my tires are almost shot so i need to get some new tires another 600 out of my pocket, then i have to get brakes done, and then i can get the rest of the stuff for the swap.
