This is my first jeep, a 2004 wrangler X TJ 4.0 with 54,000 miles for $14,000. I made sure there wasn't any rust anywhere when I got it. It's a manual with a clean title and no damage anywhere. Now for the downsides, no A/C, dana 35 in the rear, and no cruise control. But when lifting it, actually made it easier with no A/C and all the extras. Less stuff to break as well. The jeep was completely stock except for some 31" tires and chrome rims. Now for my build.
First step: Get rid of then bumper milk jugs and put the off-road lights on.
Next up is the lift. I chose the zone 4.25" lift and a metalcloak front adjustable track bar.
Just bought the Poison Spyder rockbrawler bumper and steering skid, here's the test fit:
I drilled 2 holes to mount off-road lights so the lights will be towards the ends of the bumper. I just dropped the bumper and skid plate off to get Xtreme Lined from the gf's uncle at his paint and body shop. The bumper will be back on next Friday when I come home from college, have to be back at college by Saturday afternoon so I'll post pictures sometime that weekend.
Other than those main mods, the rest have been minor. Such as: Poison Spyder grab handles, steering wheel cover, seat covers (came with the jeep), Pioneer head unit, floor mats all around, undercoating, eastwood internal frame paint, maintenance, things like that. I won't be doing many more mods for awhile since I need to rack up some money again for jeep loan and cbr600 loan. I start working at the nursing home again in March so I'll keep this build updated whenever I do anything.
Nice job! I love the before and after on the lift. I have a fairly stock 97 Sahara with 31s and have been wondering what the difference would look like, lifted.
Also - nice choice on the bumper. It's really unique and goes with your Jeep well!

Thanks man! The difference is night and day, the pictures don't really do the lift justice but without those nerf bars, you would have to jump to get in.
Nice looking Jeep! That bumper looks great! But college build??? I was expecting a completely rusted out Wrangler with bumpers made from 2x4's or beer cans
Not all college kids are that bad!:mooning: I'll be able to start buying more mods pretty soon, one more payment on the bike and it's paid off! My culver's money is getting really low now, haven't worked since summer since school. But now I'll have a good amount of income from the nursing home. Hopefully picking up a ford 8.8 for $75 within the week, I'll post it up if all goes well
Well the guy couldn't get the axle off because it was too rusted so I'll keep looking. On a good note, I sold my stock bumper for $60! Really nice older guy who wouldn't let me take the $50 we agreed on!
I didn't buy it because of overheating issues. I bought it mainly for looks and some what for venting. Before I had to wait a while to open up the hood because it gets so hot and didn't feel too good on the fingers but you can actually see and feel a huge amount of heat come out of every vent on the hood louver so it does its job. Glad I did it. For people who actually had overheating problems it solved their problems.
