The time has finally come to take what I learned from working on my previous Tj and put it towards the next project, an 06 Lj.

There is a slight story to this Jeep. Two years ago I was in the market for a Jeep and could only afford a decent Tj. One day I came home to find that my parents bought the Lj pictured below. (Keep in mind that this was months before I bought my Tj). So there I was starring at this Jeep for months and I wasn't even aloud to drive it. I eventually bought my own Jeep and started fixing it up nicely but still, the Lj loomed in the back of my mind.

Fast forward to about a month ago and my parents come home with a brand new car. Thinking that it was my only chance I was able to work out a deal with them and behold, I own an Lj at last!

Now, I knew what this Jeep came with stock and that is one of the reasons I wanted it so badly. A longer wheel base for a slightly smoother ride and the cherished Dana 44 rear with a limited slip and disc brakes. That as well as it was 9 years newer than my Tj and an automatic.

I had some savings from work and I was eager to get the Lj fixed up.
I knew my eventual goal was 35 inch tires and 4.88 gears so I shopped around to find what I wanted. The Jeep already had about a 3 inch lift so all that was needed was a little more height to fit 35's.

With my savings and busy schedule I decided to take the Jeep in to get done in a few days as it would have taken me many weekends.

Build list:
Dana 30 & 44 4.88's with new bearings and seals
U bolt style yolks front and rear
1 inch body lift
1 inch Currie motor mount lift
Dana Spicer Ball joints for the front
15x8 Method Double Standard rims (5)
35x12.5r15 BFG Km2's (5)
Brake upgrade soon to come...
The 4.88 gears make it effortless to drive everyday.
This is the current list of what's on the Jeep. I plan on doing currie steering, adding a roll cage, and a belly up skid plate to gain a little ground clearance.

It had been awhile since I had done anything to the Lj, so for a summer project I wanted to get rid of the tube steps and swap in a set of rock sliders. I ended up deciding on the JCR crusader rock sliders. After ordering them and waiting for them to ship to California they finally came. Total wait time= about a month.

I'm not going to do a very in-depth write up because there is a very informative video out on YouTube by JCR.

I wish there were nuts welded on the bottom instead of having to attach clips...

Bartact Seat Covers

I splurged and got myself something nice the other day. I wanted something to update the interior a little bit and went with Bartact seat covers. I was impressed with the quality and loved how well they fit. The only concern I have is that the spot where the lever to recline the seat is, is not stitched. I added a picture below. For the price I wish it had the stitching in this area.

Build Update

The progress on the build has come to the point where I am just collecting parts for a SYE in which I plan to do myself along with a nice write up of the install. A few recent upgrades were also added as I ditched the old monster off-brand bumper for a new and smaller one from Poison Spyder. In addition, a Currie aluminum antirock swaybar was added to improve ride quality on and off road. In terms of ride quality, the antirock is something I would recommend to anyone.

Progress has been slow on the Jeep thanks to school so it's only small projects from here on out.

I recently had the rock sliders powder coated because I did not like how the paint was holding up.

In addition, I found out that stock 2017 Jeep Rubicon Shocks are the perfect length for a Tj with a 3'' lift so I decided to throw some on after finding a deal on CL. All that is needed is a bar pin eliminator set for the front and to grind down the collars on the shocks so they are the same width as on the TJ's.
