MoTown TJ Build Begun...

I bought a 2000 TJ I6 Auto...originally from Texas -- not a spot of rust anywhere!

I will be doing a few mods to it... suspension lift, tires/wheels, interior, flares, front and rear bumpers, lighting and more.

Started off by gutting the interior and prepping for spray-on liner. Went with Al's Liner and just applied the base coat which is their heat and noise reducer. Plan on spraying main product later today.

Liner Complete!

I finished the Al's Liner this weekend and put the interior back together... It turned out sweet if I do say so myself... I love that product.... and it's a blast to use. I'd spray my family room floor if she'd let me....

Here are some more pix:

I was just about to ask that. Havent found anything yet that I thought would work well on a drill short of a wire wheel and I dont want to take it down that far all over.

It's a nylon bristle 4" brush from ALsLiner.com -- it made very fast work of the prepping...

From what I heard, it can take upwards of 3 hours to hand sand. This product right here is the first thing I'm buying when I line my tub.

Thanks!

Any issues getting the seats and console out? I've heard a break bar can come in handy.

This weekend I installed the Rugged Ridge CB Antennae mount. This worked very well, and is a very solid mount.

I also started the in-dash CB (full size) install. I plan on replacing the factory radio with the CB (other plans for radio)...

It's going to fit...

Skyjacker 4" Lift Completed

I completed the suspension lift -- adjustable front & rear lower control arms (pretty beefy); springs, shocks, etc... also replaced tie rods, drag link and track bar...

I had researched death wobble, and experiened it immediately after lifting (prior to alignment thou) -- I learned that a large percentage of the problem is slop or "egging" out of the hole for the track bar mount to the axle. I examined this whole, which was new since the kit said I had to move it over 3/4" and drill a 7/16" hole -- this hole was way to big.. tons of slop.. so I had to weld a plate over it drill a more snug hole... alignement done and all working very nicely so far.

Rear Rampage Bumper Install

I installed a Rampage Rear bumper last night. I was impressed with the metal thickness; quality of construction; powder coating and design.

The install was near effortless if I didn't opt to drill four additional holes (over & above the factory holes) for added security. This bumper has a built in 2" hitch and I plan on doing some towing. It also has two 4" round slots for some fogs....

Not a lover of chrome - painted the headlight bezels

I roughed them up with sandpaper; and hit them with Rustoleum Hammered Black -- so far, so good...

Installed Team Xenon Fender Flares

I replaced the factory fender flares with some 6" ones form Team Xenon. Very quick and easy install... nice tough that the front flares make use of the factory side marker lighting...

CB Mounting - Arizona Rocky Road and EtipInc.com ET-850 Slide Lock

I ended up mounting a Cobra CB which I obtained from the one and only Joanne's CB Shop (Joannescb.com) to an overhead bar from Arizona Rocky Road. This bar runs from drivers to passenger side and you would normally screw the CB bracket to it and off you go. I wanted more security so I obtained a radio mount from EtipInc.com - ET-850 Slide Lock - which is usually used for mounting police type radios to a center console, etc. The ET-850 is great because it locks and looks great as well. I ended up mounting it inverted; welding it to the Arizona Rocky Road mounting bar and then adding a small piece of steel reinforcement along the top which removed all the wobble while on rough terrain. I am absolutely thrilled with the end results... both the Arizona Rocky Road bar and the Etip ET-850 Slide Lock are great products and are a great solution for mounting and securing a CB in a Wrangler. JoAnneCB.com are one of the last remaining CB shops in the country that do all kinds of great things with radios -- very knowledgable folks and JoAnne is a sweet heart...

KC HiLites Installed

We ordered a bunch of KC HiLites products and are very impressed with not only the quality, but the completeness of the kit. The wiring harness that comes with these lights is awesome - includes inline fuses, the relay setup and more. This past week we installed two 4" round fog lights in both the front and rear Rampage Products recovery bumpers and also installed three rectangular KC's on the hood. A few weeks ago we installed two 6" KC's on the bumper stinger and simply used the factory fog light wiring/switch.

For this latest install, I ended up digging into the power distribution center under the hood. Here I was able to utilize an existing relay "socket" that was not being used and also found room to fit the two additional relays (used the one on the KC harness) with in the PDC box. I ran a distribution post under the hood for both the positive and negative battery terminals where I tied in all the necessary connections.

We moved the radio to a Tuffy Security Products center console which freed up the stock location to mount accessory switches. We used the Tuffy Security Products Stereo Dash Cutout Cover which we drilled for the illuminated toggle switches we purchased at Radio Shack. We are very pleased with the end results.

TourGuide, I apologize for the delay in response-- This is a "real" police spot light made by Unity. But don't buy them direct, you will pay too much. I purchased mine through a police supply store called Priority One Emergency

Ask for Patrick and let him know that Paul from Livonia sent you and he may knock off a couple bucks...
