My '03 TJ Build- "MudBug"

I bought this 2003 "Freedom Edition" in September of 2012, with 54K miles on her. She was bone stock, and I'm immediately started making changes. The big issue with me making changes, is that I sometimes change my mind afterwards. Then, I go back over my work, and change things again. Here's a photo-journey of what I've done (that I have pics of, anyway).

Sept 2012- stock

First mods- ProComp 4" lift, 33x12.50 KM2's on 15x10 Fuel Revolvers. I did the Teraflex SYE and BDS belly-up skid plate about a month later-

Next accessories were Smittybilt XRC front and rear bumpers-

I got pretty tired of the color-matched flares, so I sprayed them with Rustoleum Bedliner. At the same time, I added Poison Spyder Ricochet Rockers. This pic also shows the addition of a Warn VR8000 Winch, 6" light bar, and 3"x3" cubes on my A-Pillars-

After those accessories, I decided to start cutting things up..... I added Poison Spyder Aluminum DeFenders, with 3" flares, and Poison Spyder Bolt On Crusher Flares in the rear.

My first reaction was "I really like the looks of those, but that bumper now looks stupid." So I dumped it, in favor of a Poison Spyder BFH bumper.

Here we are, playing on an RTI ramp (no scoring), just to see her stretch.

Last spring, I decided to scrap the Dana 30/ 35 combo, in favor of G2 Dana 44's with 4.56 gears, disk brakes, and Eaton E-Lockers. At that time, I dumped the ProComp shocks and control arms for Bilstein 5100s, and Currie adjustable arms. I also installed Black Magic rotors and pads on the front -

Here are a few pics from Labor Day Weekend 2013. A few of us went to Disney, Oklahoma to play on the rocks...

After the Disney trip, I thought it was time for more protection, so I added a Poison Spyder Trail Cage, and the rear spreader bar kit-

Late last fall, I decided to swap the 33" KM2's for 35" KM2's.

Here's a buddy of mine crawling under the rear, trying to measure for bumpstops with the 35's-

In early January, I installed a 50" light bar, using the MotoBilt mount.

Here are a couple pics from recent outings......

Other accessories (but not pics of installs) include: Currie Currectlync, Currie Anti-Rock, Cobra CB, Sony Head Unit, Polk DB521's in the dash (using Nalin brackets), Polk 651's in the sound pods, and a Kicker 6.5" sub in console. Those are pushed by a Fosgate PBR300x4 and PBR300x1.

I think that about covers my build over the past year-and-a-half. We're headed to Superlift Offroad Park in Hot Springs Arkansas in March. I may decide to make more changes between now and then....

Nice build!!! Where did you get those 3x3 cubes for your pillars? Also, what did you do with your poison spyder bombshells (diff cover)?

Thanks! The 3x3 cubes are Totron.....got them from a buddy who sells them. I sold the D30 bombshell (in the pics), and swapped out the G2 cover for a D44 bombshell.

LOVE what you've done with the Jeep! It has come a long way. Now you just need to ditch the rear china bumper for something better....more PSC?

I just got my PSC hi-lines a couple weeks ago. I can't wait to get them installed.

Thanks! Yeah, the rear Chinabilt bumper will go, at some point. Not sure exactly what I'll do for another bumper. I do like the JCR rear, with tire carrier, hi lift, etc. My next "mod thoughts" are possibly hi-steer, heavier knuckles, RCV shafts, maybe rear armor (I like the TNT armor that has larger openings).

The cubes sell for $125/ set with wiring harness and switch. Mount was $230 from MotoBilt, but you can pick up KC mounts for like $40 from most off road stores. The bombshell came powder coated, and I painted the spider myself. I taped everything off, and sprayed it.

Can you pm me a link? Went on their site and they don't have a buy option.

These are the brackets that I used to mount my 50", and they can add the tab for the 3x3 cubes.
Jeep Wrangler TJ / LJ 50" LED Light Bar Mount Motobilt, Inc.

Before I had the 50", I used these brackets to just mount cube lights.

I think I'm gonna just finish building a Currie lift. I'm going to swap to Currie springs, and track bars.

When you painted your red fender flares, did you remove the red paint first?

No sir. I used a red scotch brite pad to scuff the paint up, and sprayed them.

Constant change is an inevitable thing for me. I'm patiently awaiting the UPS man....Tomorrow I'm expecting a JKS 1.25" body lift, and Currie 4" springs. I'm not a fan of the ProCrap springs that are on there now, so they're getting yanked out. I thought the addition of the body lift would allow for more clearance before tires are jammed up into fenders, and it'll open the door for tucking t-case and fuel tank in coming months. I've also decided to install MetalCloak adjustable front and rear track bars. Just waiting for them to ship.

Question for the audience- Should I do a motor mount lift at the same time that I lift the body? Why or why not?

Yesterday was a success. JKS 1.25" body lift done, MetalCloak track bars installed, and Currie springs. Browndog MML didn't arrive in time to get done. Currie's springs are a little taller and heavier duty than Pro Comp.

How do you like the currie springs? Thinking about getting them or the metalcloak springs.

I don't have enough miles on them to give you an honest opinion yet. I've only put about 7 miles on this week.

On a side note, I had a pair of 3x3 cube lights laying around, so I wired them up tonight as accessory backup lights.

Oh ok. How do you like the currectlync? I'm torn between that or doing the ZJ conversion with MOOG parts.

I love the Currectlync. I've run it for a year, and could tell the difference immediately. Steering definitely felt tighter.

Thanks for the pic... It cleared up how the stabilizer is installed for me.

How do you like the springs? I'm torn between the 3" Savvy Currie springs or the 3.5" Metalcloak springs.

I like the springs, BUT.....After hitting the trails pretty hard last weekend, I almost feel like I'm too tall. 35's, these springs, and a 1.25" body lift looks great, but a few times I felt weird when I got pretty off-camber.
