This thread is for my 2000 sport edition 4.0l 5spd. I bought it toward the end of last summer with 89k on it. so far I've put about 4500 miles on it with only minimal problems. This is where I am going to be showing off my new upgrades as I go along, and the one's that I have done in the past. All comments/criticism is wanted regardless of if they are good or bad, as I want this thing to turn out good.

Here is a picture taken a week or so after I bought it.

How it sits now with a 2inch BB (Not 100% sure on this though, it came with it), 31" BFG all terrains, and trimmed fender flares.

I will update with new pictures later tonight after I get off from work. Thanks.

The biggest problem of all this is my budget. Right now I work about 4-5 hours a week making minimum wage, it just doesn't cut it.

With that said I wouldn't have enough to get a new axle, then get lockers for it. Why wouldn't you just get new gears for your current front axle?

Are 4.10 gears the way to go with 33's too? I haven't really looked into gearing that much yet.
I make 25$ a week on average. I think I may need to look for a 2nd job.[/QUOTE said:

$25 a week = $1,300 a year.

With a lift comes tires, wheels, and possibly regear.

I suggest you keep the 31s and your current lift. It is very capable for occasional offroading. Tires and wheels alone will cost you more than $1,300 (usually for 33s)

Im not trying to be negative, just realistic.

If you are still set on the lift, tires, gears, try to get a better job (or more hours) and just make sure you do it all right the first time.

And also regearing is expensive!! It is something only a professional can do (unless you are extremely extremely experienced). Labor is pricey. Your lookin at probably $2,000 for regearing front and rear. (depending on the shop)

Good luck!

Thanks for the advice. It's the truth so I don't take offence to it. I'm just keeping my jeep how it is for now and saving up some money. Once I get money I think I am going to buy a welder to make custom bumpers as well as other things for my jeep. Who knows what after that.

Did he really mean he only makes $25 dollars a week? Or do you think he ment $250 and just forgot the 0? Either way bud I suggest getting a better job, it will take you forever to save up for more of the bigger and exspensive goodies your gonna want to add on your jeep. Remember JEEP stands for Just Empty Every Pocket, because wanting to do things to your jeep never ends and you'll never get tired of it! Good luck and your doing a great job on your jeep so far!
Yes I only make 25$ a week. It's terrible. The store that I work at is starting to go under. I've been looking for a second job but no luck.

On the good side of things I took her out to a local sandpit today. My brother snapped this picture with his phone while I was going down a steep
hill.

I haven't updated in a while because nothing huge has happened.

About a week ago the zipper on my back window got stuck. While I was working on it the window folded and cracked down the middle. I got fed up with having an 11 year old top so I took it off. I also cleaned her out quite a bit. I am going to be ordering a Rampage Frameless Soft Top this evening.

If anyone wants the stock soft top frame I can sell it to you for cheap.

When I ripped my rear seat out I noticed a decent sized dent on the bottom of the tub. Can someone help me figure out what this is from?

The Dent:

Flat-mounted my license plate.

Nice jeep nastyrider. I know this may be a couple weeks late but as for your key that you have it will have a chip in it. That would be an Ilco blank number Y159. It is the key used for my 2004 grand cherokee laredo and does indeed have a chip. If it did not have one it'd be about 4-5mm thinner. As for getting it copied and programmed, at the ace hardware I work at we are able to program keys as well as cut them, obviously. If you had two chances are you'd be able to program a third on your own with your vehicle.

Are those the power lines on the Methuen Dracut line? or am I seeing things? Its been a while since I have been there but I used to ride my 4 wheelers and dirt bikes there.
Anyway running a 2000 TJ now, I am putting a 4" OME lift in and going to 33" tires. I have been advised to change the gears to 4.56 as I have the 5 spd 4.o engine. My point to you is this Jeep thing gets expensive if you let, but fortunately for you Jeep makes a great vehicle right out of the factory. If I were you I would do all mods on your budget and enjoy your Jeep, in the end thats what its all about.

How's that rubber coating holding up? Still considering it but not sure if I want to or not. Don't want to paint, especially if rubber coating can come off someday if necessary.

I still had that rubber coating on my rims up until I got new ones. The only little bit that came off was from rubbing the edge of the rim on rocks. I got new rims a week or 2 ago.

looks good, your always gunna have something new you want to do, i started a forum and theres tons of cool stuff you can do. ill post it on heree for ya
Great thread, I've looked through a few pages in the past. I try to spend as much as I can on parts for the heep but really not too much in the past few months. I got 2 10" subs and a 800w amp sitting in the rear instead of seats now. I also got Delta Tech lights due to mine breaking and some new rubber.

Pretty much, yea.

So far today I got the d35 ripped out. Glad I started soaking a week in advance with PB blaster. Good shit. Not really much trouble except for the e-brake lines. I ended up cutting them because I got new ones. Also, having to go to lowes or VIP every hour or so to replace broken tools/get new shit I didn't have before really sucks when your DD is out of commission.

ECGS set up ford 8.8 rear with 4.88 gears, nitro positraction, stock shafts, and new disk brakes. Front Mopar D44 housing with 4.88 gears, spartan limited slip, chromoly shafts, knuckles, and spicer u-joints. Also came with a SYE and a CV driveshaft for a little over 5gs shipped to my house. They did a great job with them and the install hasn't been too bad. I managed to strip a T-case skid bolt so I'm going to cut it off tomorrow. More pics to come.

I still haven't replaced the tranny. As long as I don't shift too fast, and wait for it to warm up for a few minutes, then it doesn't grind. I'll probably wait until it completely goes before I replace it.

For your 2nd gear synchro issue- try swapping out the fluid for Red Line MTL...the stuff is amazing
Will do. It's about time for a change anyways.

It's not hard to do a SYE I just did one. The hardest part is having a big enough snap ring pliers and a "C" clip wrench. I dont know if that is the correct name or not. There or two rings without holes in them to get out and I used this tool to take them off. It looks like a bent needle nose pliers with a spring on it. So it works like a snap ring pliers without the holes. Other than easy to do.
