Hey guys, this is my first car and I choose a jeep because I loved the customization and how it fits my life style of being outdoors in the wilderness. I like knowing my car will eventually be able to go a lot of places others cars can't. I bought a 1999 tj stock about a year ago with 130k on it. I've done a few mods to it but I figured I'd make this to get some thoughts from more experienced jeeps. Here's my jeep stock.
It no longer looks like this though, over the summer, I put in a bit of work. Some
Modifications include 1.5" RC long arm lift with their shocks and springs, new steering, 33x12.5 mud terrains, rebuild and reinforced rear frame, src front bumper, kc 130w driving lights, kc 55w fog lights, led reverse lights and some cool toys I saw and decided to add.
it's a C shaped mount, so the bottom bolts to the stock tire carrier. Then goes up and back out over the tire. Then I just bedlined it and mounted the lights. I'll try to get some pictures up of the creation of it.
Thats a clean Jeep. I have a 99 as well, with about 160k on it. Except the fenders are rusting out pretty bad, and all the paint flaked off the side mirrors.
What mods did you do to the inside? You mentioned it... now I am interested!

haha, yeah, I did a lot to the the inside for sure. To start I used to have a tan interior which I panted red and black. I added neopreme seat covers which unfortunately have faded pink. New subwoofer/amp under the rear seat. Replaced lights by the feet with red Leds. New cb with PA system hooked up for right now. Paracord grab handles. Smittybilt Gear bag on rear seat. Replaced cluster gauge lights with red leds.
Modifications to come is wrapping the oh shit getsv handle with black paracord and also the shirter.
Nice! I have the same seat covers actually... mine are still red (so i hope they dont fade more with age). I had a rhino liner on the inside of my Jeep, but it has quickly flaked off. I have to find a different brand, something more durable. I ripped my stock radio out a while back and replaced it with a CD player. Well that died, and now I put my stock one back in, and that doesnt seem to work either now. I have a lot of little projects to do on my Jeep this summer.
yeah, I think it was having my top and doors off so much in the summer that faded them so quickly. They certainly looked nice when they were red though. One thing I forgot to mention was that I replaced the sound bar with a 6 speaker one and luckily the previous Owner installed after market speakers in the dash. Painting my interior was something I don't regret at all, except it can chip sometimes and the tan peaks through. Nothing some touch up paint can't fix!
Just got the poison spyder rocker knockers with sliders for $250. They are slightly used but nothing a bit of bed liner can't fix! I'll post pictures as soon as I have them ready to mount!
I had to fix one of the sliders because the previous owner cut out a hole for a snorkel.
So I just welded up the hole and ended up having to cut the corner a bit more than I wanted to fix it.
Today, I installed my new cobra cb radio. I mounted it on the passenger side for now until I make a overhead rack to hold it. I also finished wiring in a PA system with a weatherproof 25 watt horn I got from radio shack. Plenty loud without an amp and sounds clear when talking into it. I think Santa is being me a 3' firestik as well, so I'm deff looking forward to that. I'll post pictures of the horn placement tomorrow.
Today, I finally mounted the poison spyder rocker knocker with tubes. Installation was a bitch and ended up taking the whole day to just get one in. However in the end, it looks great.
Another project I decided to do was replace my old battery terminal connection. My car was having slow start ups due to a slacking connection. The old one's bolt was rusted and wouldn't tighten. So I decided the best thing to do was to just replace it.
Starting a new project this week. I bought the body armor roof rack for the jeep, but decided to not buy the basket. They wanted like 400 for this basket which advertises their name on the front of it. My car is certainly not a billboard. So I decided I'd build my own basket. I bought my material from Kentucky for Iike 150 bucks and the now all I have to do is cut and weld a rack together. I think it'll turn out good. It's time to put my amateur welding experience to the test considering I'm only 18. I'll post pictures as I go along.
