Hey everyone, I finally got a jeep. I've wanted one for so long!
It's a 4.0 L sport with a 5 speed. It's riding on some worn 31" BF Goodrich tires. It was a repo and we got it for 2500 dollars. Runs great, the engine seems to be in good condition (with the exception of no water in the cooling system, we haven't seen any sign of engine overheat but we will look into it once we get it clean) but the PO had a lot of junk laying around in it. Never cleaned it, and probably lived on a dirt road. I've got a few plans for this thing. But first things first, we gotta get it clean and fix any issues we find with the engine.
This is after we washed it up. Amazing what soap and water can do to a car! There doesn't appear to be much rust if any on the frame or anywhere on the jeep for that matter. The top is in poor condition with a rip down the back window (duct taped by PO). I plan to replace it with a hard top and find some full doors. I'm also considering the dual tube front bumper and a smittybilt SRC classic tire carrier. We took the seats out to wash them and are looking for some new seat covers. I'm thinking something to match the paint. The muffler has got a hole in it and while I do kinda like the sound, it needs a new muffler. Thinking about a flowmaster 50 series.. I'm thinking about a Rough Country 3.25" lift with 33x12.50 15 Goodyear wrangler duratrac tires, I may even keep the wheels that are on the jeep as they seem to be after market. Btw can anyone identify the rims on the jeep? It doesn't seem to have any markings on them, and I'm sure they're aftermarket. I need a 5th tire and I'd like the rim to match.
One of the things I found under the back seat was a jeep hubcap! I think it looks sick on my wall! It might be a suvonyier that I'll keep with me for the rest of my life to remember my first jeep! Lol
If you guys have any tips for me I'd appreciate it! My dad is a experienced mechanic and any issues that pop up we can resolve ourselves. We're fixing a bunch of interior things such as the ripped drivers seat and the bedlined floors. Need a new shifter knob and the shifter boot won't stay down. Until we fix it up though it'll be sitting in the drive!
Here's the jeep all clean and shiny. It's looking pretty good. We've ordered the bedliner and paint to respray the glove box. It looks pretty far off compared to the other red parts of the dash

Changed my mind on the top. Since I'd like to be able to put the top down with out having to pick up a big ole hardtop and trying to find somewhere to store it, I've decided to go with a bestop supertop. Seems to be just what I'm looking for.
Beginning the bedlining! First coat is done. I redid the red parts of the dash so they all coordinated. We had to order the plastidip vinyl dark red. The one we used the first time and eventually ran out of was 12 years old apparently and had been discontinued
I guess we've changed our minds on the top again. A junk yard has a 1999 jeep wrangler with full doors and what looks to be a 2-piece hard top. He says they're in "mint" condition, yet the hard top is faded. $2000 for the doors and the top. The doors are black, so they'd need to be repainted.
Bestop 2-piece hard top with full metal doors
It's just wet in some spots because I was getting the windows clean
We'll paint the doors eventually. I'm holding on to the half doors and soft top
I love me some LEDs. But I don't like any of the aftermarket tailights. But then I found these suckers for ~45 dollars.
They look amazing in my opinion
They also have the tailight with license plate illumination for a little more
Ok so we ordered some seat covers to replace these:
They were listed on eBay by a dealership in Texas as leather seats with the jeep logo on the headrest. However, they didn't have anymore in stock and forgot to take down the listing. I'm wondering if y'all have any suggestions for replacement seat covers. I don't want the seat covers that are supposed to go over your stock seat covers. I want something that will cover all sides of the foam seat. I would prefer something other than stock.

I bought some iggee covers for my '99 about 2 years ago. Still look good, no fade at all. They are a vinyl or synthetic leather so you do get a little sweaty on hot days, but you'll get that with the neoprene ones too. I'm happy with my decision. By the way, the DC2's although very popular are still the best looking in my opinion!
Everything is installed. With the exemption of one projector headlight that kinda sorta slipped out of my hands a busted on the pavement.. Felt really good about that one..
Well, they wouldn't replace the headlights but I got $15 dollars off my new order which is better than nothing I suppose. Began the lift as well. So far we have the front finished.
