It looks great, couldnt be happier. I got it up to temperature tonight and then got out to see how well it works, you wouldnt believe the amount of heat this thing lets out. The fan literally blows the heat out the front vents and the rear ones are leaking heat from the headers. I was surprised to see how much heat just swirls around in there when theres no where for it to escape.

On another note. The Jeep goes back in the shop tomorrow to finish off the axle install, the front is all geared up and locked. Its killing me not to be able to put it in 4wd. When it gets back Im planning a trip up to Melbourne for some off road fun. Then depending on how it does I may take it up to devils garden mud club on memorial day weekend. You all might just get to see my rig covered in mud if I decide to take it on those trails lol.

Pretty cool jeep you have there. I really dig the seat covers, and you are right about the neoprene covers....they fade really bad. But yeah, looks really good....how does it perform though? Any gearing or lockers????

will have 4.56 gears and both axles locked here in about 2 weeks. Hopefully, so long as they have it finished by then.

cool....I have the same gearing in mine and also have front and rear locked up. What type of lockers did you go with? I elected for the Ox lockers with the cables. I have tried them out once so far. There is a little bit of adjusting that I need to do for the cables, but man it is like night and day with lockers on.

I have a Yukon auto locker up front and the 8.8 that will be in the rear has posi in it already. If I were gonna do anything differently I would have gone with the ox lockers also but thats just not in the budget atm. Cant wait for it to get back from the shop so I can go hit some trails.

See, I wanted to get the Yukon gears, but I went with the cheaper Nitro gears (which is what Chip @ Ox steered me towards) in order to get the Ox lockers. I priced them out and it ended up being a little bit cheaper than ARBs front and rear. Mainly because of the extra air source. Gotta love budgets.

Did you see that OX now has air and electronic activated lockers? They dont have them for my 8.8 yet. They also have a failsafe that you can add so you can manually lock or unlock them if something happens to air source. Heres a link The ULTIMATE "Selectable" Locker System! Brought To YOU By ROCKRIDGE 4WD!

Yup. Almost went with air. That failsfe thingy is pretty cool, but not quite sure how it works. I could have sworn that they had a few ford axle applications....but then I have been known to be wrong from time to time. If you are interested in them, email Chip Keckler at Ox and he will be able to get you the info you need.

IGGEE customs. On ebay, they arent cheap but they are very sturdy and waterproof.

Ok so its official, I will never use Modifications Unlimited again nor can I recommend them for anything except rims and tires. I have been trying to get this axle deal done for over 5 months now and its been nothing short of pulling teeth to get these people to work on my Jeep. It has been in their shop for a total of 4 weeks over the past 5 months and the only thing done to it is the front axle rebuild, regear, and locker. I brought it in on Monday of this week and the guy said "2 days it will be finished, all I gotta do is pull the old axle, set them up next to each other and weld on the new brackets." So I expected a call on wednesday but figuring it would never come. So I called today (Friday) and they said "Oh it will be done by noon." So I arrange for my boss to take me there after work to pick up my Jeep and this is what I see:

So I think to myself, "its almost 5 why isnt the axle in? maybe there was a problem and they had to pull it again?" Well turns out thats my D35 down there on the ground with my 35's still on it. So now I'm darn near boiling point. I asked Robin whats the deal with my Jeep and he says "oh we just started it" He says it will be done on Wednesday now and God help him if it isnt...

Sorry for the rant but I needed to vent a little. Im usually a very patient man and I do like things to be done right but this is getting out of hand. 6 months to find the right axle, get the mounts (which I had to search for), weld them on, then regear should be plenty of time...

looking like the bolt in deals with everything prefabricated to your door might be worth the cost.

Should have, could have, would have. Hindsight is 20/20. I wish I had the equipment and knowledge to do this myself but I dont trust my welds enough.

It turns out that when I called there was another yellow Wrangler there that was just getting some tires installed and thats the one that was ready at noon. So @#!$@%#$ frustrating.

My general rule is that there are 3 people in life you dont want to screw with, your Doctor, your Mechanic, and the person making your food. But in this case I think I may have to break that rule.

Trust me, I understand. In the military there is a fourth....the personnel department (handles your personal records of your career). Unfortunately you may need to change that mechanic lol.

ITS DONE!!!

What a huge difference! it actually works like its supposed to now, it has power off the line and it has power when I stomp the pedal cruising down the road. They said they broke it in but Im not trusting it. Just taking it easy for the first 100 miles, only in town driving, then light highway driving for the next 400 or so. Luckily I dont drive this very far for work. about 10 miles round trip to the storage yard to pick up the work truck.

They did take care of me on the price, thankfuly, tho I doubt Ill go there again any time soon.

I bet that's a relief, I hope it all holds up well without any surprises for your sake. My Jeep is my only means of transportation right now, and I couldn't deal with all of that downtime. Between your struggles, finding worthy donor axles in my area, and the fact that all the shops I can find in my area that do gears (limited) say to buy the parts and they will put them in (warranty issues?) I think I may end up going G2 rear and ECGS front. Now I just need to hold a gun to my head and cough up the cash... Lol. Glad you got it worked out.

No kidding, the welds look good enough. And for my own sanity and their sake I hope it holds up. I should have went with ECGS in the first place. turns out thats where these people ordered most of my parts for the install. (thats after I told them about the site) I looked at the G2 axles but they just werent what I was looking for in terms of getting replacement parts, rebuild kits, available lockers, and such. ECGS would have saved me loads of time and therefore money as well. But it is nice to have that coushion that if something happens to my axle that I can get it towed there and have them repair it.

Well I got my Rampage tonneau cover with zippered middle section in today. Nice birthday present that my wife didnt know she bought me lol. I installed it at about 8:30 tonight cause, plain and simple, I couldnt wait till daylight. So there wont be any pics till later tomorrow.

All that being said, on to the install review. The temp is about 80 and the top was about the same. It went on nice and easy. I already have experience with the Rampage frameless top so putting this on was a breeze. Everything went where it was supposed to, fits nice and tight, and zips up and down nice and easy. Not a single complaint with the install portion.

The quality looks to be pretty good, nice thick materials, good sewing on the velcro and zippers. Only complaint here is the zipper pull tab, it seems flimsy but other than that its way better than I expected.

I will drive around with it on for a week or so and give another working review on it but it seems that it will do exactly what I was hoping for it to do. And thats keep my amps dry when Florida decides to throw a flash flood at me. And to have a nice look while still being able to use the rear seat when its time to throw the kids in there and go. I will keep you all posted on this and get some pics up in the am.

Thx for the compliments. The best thing you can do is ask your questions on the forum first, there are a bunch of people who are willing and able to help answer and guide you in the right direction.

It works for some, but Im not really a fan. I already have the black inserts for the grille, black bumper, black fog lights, black rings for the headlights. In fact im looking to get some more yellow up there since all the other shiz is black. considering a yellow which line and some yellow steering components just to break up all the black.
