I have wanted a Jeep since I was about six, and now, at 37 years old, I have made a childhood dream come true.
I bought my first Jeep the day before yesterday, a 2006 TJ, Flame Red.

Thanks to getting her at a great price with a low interest used car loan (it pays to pay your bills on time, lol) I am left with the ability to burn any money that I get for selling my old truck on extras for the Jeep. This is going to fun.

So let's start with a picture of her as I received her.

I will post pictures as she develops and I am sure that I will be asking plenty of questions.

It has a 3" body lift and 265/75r15 (31") on it.

I don't really know what to do with it. I could just leave the lift and put 33's but would that cause me to have to do anything with the gearing? It has a 4.0/6 speed manual.
Judging how it performs now, I think I would be ok. With the 265's on it I still start off in second gear with no issues.

The other option was to swap the lift for a 2" and put 32's. That would be more work, but I don't think 32's would fill it out the way I like with the 3" lift.

I know that suspension lifts or a combination of that with a minor body lift is preferred, but this is what I have. And for $10,650 I wasn't going to complain.
To be honest, I think I will be fine with just a body lift. I live in Louisiana and it's pretty flat around here. lol

I do know this much, I want the red letter Grabbers on a set of black Soft 8's.

Could I do 33's with my engine/transmission? That is the first question.

As for the lift, I will at some point in the not too far off future get rid of the 3" BL. Maybe do something like you recommend, that sounds good, but I have to learn more about these things before jumping into changing the body lift, adding a suspension lift, etc. It would also help to make some Jeep friends locally that would be willing to help. I'm sure it's not really a one man job.

Now $4k isn't what I paid for the Jeep, that's what I am getting for the Ranger that I am selling.

I paid $10,650 for the Jeep. Still a good deal based on what I was finding elsewhere.
The $4k from the Ranger.... I get to spend on the Jeep.

Redo the lift, custom stereo, new carpet and seat covers, armor kit, new top, lights, alarm, new flares...
Also planning on a tune up, all new brakes, shocks, etc.

Gonna be busy every weekend from now until Christmas. lol

This one is going to rock for sure. I sold the Ranger today and just placed a orders for a bit over $2000 worth of stuff for the Jeep.

New top, seat covers, stereo, subwoofer, Gorilla nuts, body armor, carpet, wide fenders, lights, new lift kits........

I'm excited.:dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:

I originally wanted yellow, wasn't too fond of the red, but it is growing on me... quickly.
She should be getting the black rims and red letter tires soon, a Rampage frame-less top with tinted windows has been ordered along with some lights and I ordered her new zombie badges last night. I think the red is going to work out just fine. :)

Now I just need a name for her.

i was thinking about those general grabbers with the red letters, on a red jeep would look cool I think, with black rims with the red pinstripe around the lip.

From the big share of members on here I think you are coming out waaaaaaaayyyyyyy ahead. I have heard nothing but good things about the Duratracs.

I am on my 3rd set of BFG's but when they are gone or I go to 33's Duratracs for sure!!

I understand they "clean out" better in the snow.

Just had Goodyear order me a set of 5 Duratracs in 33x12.5x15 and I placed an order for a set of Soft 8's for them to mount them on.

In other news, the wide fender flares came in yesterday, the Rugged Ridge armor kit came in today, the dash cluster arrived and I pick up the rest of the brake parts from AZ on the way home.

It's gonna be a full weekend. :)
