New TJ - photo tour and build/idea thread

Last week I purchased my first Jeep - 2001 Sport, hard/soft tops, 33x1250x15 duratracs (only about 1/3rd left, however). Getting under the truck I see I have a BDS lift; but I have no idea how much is there. What should / could I measure to get an idea? I found the original axles; nothing was built-up. I'm considering smaller tires - but I sorta like the way the current big meats (*that was my nickname in college...big meat....I kid...didn't go to college * ) look on the truck. Course 32x1050x15 wouldn't look a lot different, but might be easier on MPG, and the drive components.

Plans include new wheels and tires, new shocks, and preventive maint. stuff. Inside I'll buy a soundbar, and a CB, and tighten down a few loose ends (PIAAs on the bumper - first time I tried them I let all the smoke in the switch escape!).

It's definately a project - a fairly good running project, but I have plenty of things to make my-own about it. My 13y/o daughter and 10 y/o son already love it - both have driven it a couple times. Here's my daughter's little drive-around...about half-hour ago:

Nice! Silver Jeeps are by far the most awesome.

Looks good! To me it looks like a 3in. But I could be wrong. I do like bds though. Havent gotten on for my Jeep yet but I will eventually. I bought mine, same color you got, bone stock so I can mod everything myself. That way I know for sure whats in it!

Thanks! if I measured, say, center of wheel to fender - what's normal? Also - think 31s or 32s would look tiny? Does it look over-tired?

Thanks! Still looking for ways to determine the size of the lift if anyone has ideas.
