well just got back from a 7 hour trip lol, WELL worth it though!!! ended up spending more than 150 tho, i also just ordered a gallon of herculiner and 2 QTS of the UV protector, i need to quit being lazy got a lot of stuff to install lol!!
PS corners (he tossed in the flush mounting LED tail lights free) - $150
fuel tank skid that needs stripped and painted- $25
high light jack (he tossed in the bottom stand peice or w/e it is free) - $30
currie EZ deflator brand new in case- $ free
also have these sitting on my floor lol - Tattons Cv DS, and SYE kit-
just got back from picking up my new tube fenders, the pile has grown! lol i am going to try and atleast get the highlift jack mounted today, thinking of mounting it to the back of the rollbar but might put it on the front bumper not sure yet
LOL, actually working on the high-lift mount right now, looked online for some but i decided to try and make one myself, its going to go behind the roll cage above the rear "cargo" area the 1/4 steel plate im going to use is sitting behind me, letting the primer dry before i paint it red and go mount it all
got a little bit done in the past day or so, not as much as i would like to tho lol, found a nice 2000W modified sine wave inverter for $50 brand new (its the same one they sell at pepboys for like $300) went ahead and installed it first to use it to install my high-lift mount lol works like a champ!! was running my drill off it for about 10minutes straight and it never even warmed up, even ran my dyson vacuumm off it to clean up the mess haha altho i will say the vac. doesnt work as well on a modified sine wave so it took a little bit anyways-
i took the pics after i already did the drilling, my bedliner isnt THAT bad lol its metal flakes, altho my gallon of hurculiner should be here in 3 days to redo it and get my fenders / corners done
and heres the high-lift mount, i had to take the base off of it and store it in my ammo can to make it work but it came out pretty nice either way i think-
heres all the materials i used, yes cutting the 1/4 steel with a dremel was as fun as you think
got a little bit done at work tonight, took the brackets off the fuel tank skid plate and took a BFH and toch to it to get the big dents out, and took the grinder to it for about 3 hours lol, its smooth as a babys bottom now and ready for paint, altho i have changed my mind, as much as i would like it red i think i am going to herculiner it so it lasts longer since it will be under the jeep, now i just have to wait till the herculiner gets here in like 3-5 days
got a little bit more work on the jeep, as my dad would say im moving as fast as a herd of turtles painted the inside part of the gas tank skid with high-temp engine paint because it is oil / fuel resistant, came out nice!! also i painted the inside part of the fenders with the same stuff, going to try and get the fenders bolted in tomorrow then the corners next week because a buddy from work is going to let me borrow his spray gun / barn to spray the herculiner on!
got the majority of the rust out from the inside part of the skid and sanded it down smoothISH (not going to see it anyways lol)
first coat i used a paint from lowes that is supposed to neutralize the remaining rust and make it a paintable surface, it worked pretty good actually-
well got MOST of the fender stuff done today, still need to drill some holes to remount my evap canister / cruise control servo, and my horn, also i took the vac. reservoir out of the drivers side fender and im moving it to where the washer reservoir used to be (not reinstalling it since it doesnt work anyway and i dont use it) the spot the vac. reservoir was mounted in (below the battery tray) was completely covered in mud almost above the reservoir so i want to move it -
thanks the fenders were actually a LOT easier than i thought they would be, only probelm is the new ones dont have any holes pre-drilled into them for stuff that mounts to the inside, IE the fuse box, EVAP canister, washer reservoir (not remounting this anyway) or horn, got the fuse box and air cleaner assy taken care of going to do the evap canister and stuff on the drivers side tomorrow, also i put my old fenders on craigslist for 200 and sold them in like 10 hours lol! so almost paid for the tube fenders
got quite a bit done today, almost done infact! i WOULD be able to finish today but being the idiot i am sometimes i put my keys in my g/f's purse last night when we were out because i dont like them in my pocket lol and forgot to get them back and i need a few bolts from lowes and a 4.5" hole saw to do the flush mount on the tailights and have no way of getting there tonight /facepalm lol anyways-
got the rear flares off first since i sold the set of trimmed flares, also sold the plastic "armor" kit i had on it so i got the rear corners and "rock sliders" off-
i LOVE the look with no flares lol, THANK YOU TN for NOT having a fender law LOL
i checked the new LED tailights and the plug is different from the one on my TJ so i went ahead and got the wiring done (hence the wires hanging from the tail light location) so i can just plug them up 2morrow, or WED when i get them in-
put the latches on and traced the bolt where it needed to go, was pretty worried about this one going in right lol i tend to measure about 1/16th of an inch off at all times :P got it right on tho and the hood latches down better than stock actually lol!
next up i was going to mount the vac. reservoir where my washer reservoir was but i noticed it fits perceft on the HCU tray that is empty on my jeep so i just put it there, took a bit of figuring out to get the vacuum lines rerouted in a way that looked nice, i cut out the "T" that goes by the heater lines then down to the vac res. and put a straight connector in, then put a new "T" on the intake manifold and hooked up the lines there, came out nice i think! good thing i have a few hundred feet of extra vacuum lines from my volvo project lol!
after that i had to mock up the EVAP canister and drill some holes to mount it, these fenders didnt have ANY holes drilled for this stuff lol, also had to drill the holes to remount the horns-
then came my new poison spyder corners i put them on the scale before i mounted them, 30 +/- 5 lbs each (my scale sucks lol) so you can imagine out "fun" it was to line them up and mount them by myself, clamps helped but dang it sucked lol!! props to the guys at poison spyder tho the holes they predrilled if you want to mount flares all lined up perfect and i actually used them as a reference if it was straight or not, i was nervous about drilling into my jeep when i first did it but its kind of fun lol!!
got a gallon of herculiner im going to spray on them,i need to redo my interiors herculiner pretty bad and i want to spray a few other things, and a friend of mine has barn set up as a spray booth that he has been begging people at work to paint their cars in lol so im going to fulfill his wishes
ok i have no problem drilling like 50 holes in the side of the jeep that are 3/8" for the corners and such but i have to admit im kind of nervous about drilling these 4.5" holes in the back to flush mount the tail lights lol!! going to be fun 2morrow!!
didnt finish today like i planned, almost tho, just need to figure out the tail light wiring since the LED ones have different color wiring and i had to extend the stock wires with speaker wire lol anyways got everything bolted on and ran a nice bead of RTV around the corners to keep water out, came out awsome!!!!
started out drilling the hole for the lights with my 14.5V drill, but got tired of the lack of torque and hooked my corded drill into the inverter lol, much better
no pics yet because it started raining but i got the tail lights all wired up and drove it today now i just need to wait on the turn signals i ordered from MCE and it will be all legal again , driving it to work tonight though without them lol :P so nice driving it again!!!!
havent done much to it since those photos, waiting on stuff in the mail lol, going to buy the rockers next pay check (had other things to buy this one ) thinking about having a local shop make them for me so they fight perfect, should be a little cheaper too, also i got my 3/4" blinkers for the front in the mail from MCE, great customer service!! ordered a factory license plate bracket off ebay too, i want to paint it so bad lol!!
got a little bit done yesterday, need to go take some pics finally wired up and installed my 3/4 LED blinkers from MCE in the front, and got my OEM license plate bracket in the mail and got it bolted on, looks pretty good, now i just need to wait on my PS rocker knockers to come, and paint
