Hey everyone my name is Daniel and I am new here on the forum and to the Jeep world, so new in fact that I just got my jeep yesterday. Im starting this thread to show the transformation of the jeep as I make it what I want it to be, the pictures im going to attatch to this post are of it now as I just got it and I will post pics of mods and things I do add and change as I go along, if you have tips for things I should do or change or you would like to know how I did it then feel free to c omment and message away with that being said I look forward to chatting and meeting all of you.
Im sorry I don't know how I didnt put that info it's a 1999 wrangler se 4cyl automatic odometer says 205k but was gone over and adjusted not long ago, this is a second vehicle and is not my work horse, I have a 06 f250 I do all that with this is a fun toy basically
Right now plans are to bed liner all the parts that should be black now to refresh them, going to do some custom grille mesh, bed linering the headlight rings all the hindges, the doorways and such, going to make the top black probably using plastidip or krylon fusion but will be getting a black rampage top before too long, going to make the rims black with bedliner most likely, going to smoke all the lights then the interior work will begin with black and red seat covers pulling all the tan carpet and rhino lining all the floors adding some nice floor mats gonna leave the carpet out, then getting rid of the rest of the tan interior with black and red krylon fusion, then may look into a small inexpensive lift just to sit up some tires are fine as they are 265s now and last may look to some different bumpers, I have made progress on it the last day and a half I have had it and pics and updates coming soon thanks guys
Thanks yellowfin, here is what I have accomplished in the last couple days since i have had the jeep, and in my opinion the most needed modification which is the rhino lined fender flares, I used rustoleum truck bed liner, I opted to remove the flares cleaned them down with alcohol and sprayed three coats, also did my headlight trim rings as well with 3 coats, turned out great and the TJ is looking better already
Looks good ! I'm a big fan of black fender flares and headlight bezels. Going to be on my top 5 to do when I get home to mine. Even considering plastidipping the entire front grill (since my LE has a chrome one :/).
Yea I dont like chrome on my vehicles either but mine has no inserts in the grill so some type of mod will be in the future for that, I particularly dont like the grill to be black completely cause then the whole front looks black and I like some red too, bit we will see what happens, only jad mine 3 days and my wife wants to trade in her highlander for a 4 door jk already lol
Well due to the weather it has put my customizing on hold and I need to get my spare tire situation figured out but I did get a little done that I started when I was doing the fenders and finally installed my last piece today and that is my hood latches and windshield tie down, I bed linered them and this is how they turned out, im reall happy with them and love the jeep is finally starting to have the ugly parts go away so I can start midifying and adding accessories
I would focus on getting the tranny, xfercase, and diff fluids changed. That way you can be reassured you have the right fluids and will have a new baseline time for when you changed them (when you bought the Jeep).
When I bought my 1999 SE, the rear diff fluid looked like black nasty goop from hell. Glad I changed it when I did.
Not a bad idea I may do that but I know the guy I got the jeep from actually traded a 4 wheeler for it, but he keeps his stuff up well, but it never hurts, what fluid do you use and so forth and how should I go about changing them any special techniques
Had a break in the rain and was able to install my new hand grips ke and my wife made, these are black widow in the doors and a basic red and black from the mirror I actually made 2 sets not sure which ones I want yet but this is how I put them for now
Well we got a couple of nice days here in south ga so I pulled my top off today and decided to spray my top since im going to red and black and getting rid of all the tan, it came out quite nice I sprayed it with truck bedliner took me 3 cans is all and $26 it was still a little wet in the photos and am gonna finish touching it up tomorrow
Well making a little progress with the jeep but for every step I take seems like I take 10 steps back, I got my 1.25" body lift from zone offroad installed it wasnt too bad the actual body lifting was easy took like 25 minutes but the new radiator brackets and steering carrier bearing brackets were a pain there is no room to work but finally got it on, I also have my 2.5" rough country lift to install this weekend, and as some of you suggested that the body lift would allow my spare tire to fit again well you guys were right and I appreciate your info and suggestions, I have a picture of just the body lift installed as well as my rhino lined now black top,as well as a picture of my spare tire mounted, you may notice in the picture I am now missing the back glass and thats because it exploded for no apparent reason, some of you may have seen the thread about it. I have a new rampage top thanks to my wife that just came in today, just waiting on the door surrounds to install it and will get a piece of glass for my hard top later, my wife also ordered a 2.5" lift for her jku so im sure she will post it all up anyways guys thanks for the help and suggestions keep them coming
Looking really good as you get further along. Kind of funny because one your first post I was wondering what was going on with the spare tire. So tiny! But it makes sense now and looking much better. I need to do my fenders like you did yours to get them looking clean and black again.
Well started at about 2pm putting my lift on and in 2hrs the front is on, this is being done in my yard with just jack stands floor jacks and pneumatic tools, it is a rough county 2.5" lift with new coils and 2.2 nitro shocks may wait till tomorrow to do the back its pretty hot out here in south ga here is my progress
Well guys I completed the lift today, figured id better finish it up since I have to put a lift on my wife's jku tomorrow and they are calling for rain sunday here but im done with the suspension and stance of my jeep for now, may add an aftermarket steering stabilizer and some new tires later but time to get to rhe interior and get rid of all the tan, oh and also putting my new rampage soft top on tomorrow thanks to my wife who got it for me since my back glass busted, but anyways here is the pics after I finished, its 2.5" rough country lift new springs and shocks and my zone offroad 1.25" body lift sitting on some 40% tread 265 cooper discover st on stock rims
Thanks man I do too, took about 2 more hrs to do the rear so a 4hr total on the suspension lift but this wasnt my first rodeo I have done many lifts before but I dont play around I do everything myself and the only help I might have is my wife and tomorrow other than my top we are working on her jku but ill be blacking out my rims soon as well and my wife will start her a thread as well
