| Give me some Ideas on what to do
Ok. So I have my '09 Jeep Wrangler with the bells and whistles. They're stock bells and whistles though. I know that I'm getting some hand-rails, don't which ones, but I'm getting them because I'm only 5'5". , but can ya'll give me some ideas on what else to add to him, please.
It's the one in my sig pic.
Thanks. |

It's not UNLIMITED, but not strapped either. I can do a pretty good bit at a time. But keep in mind that this is my "main" mode or transportation too. I have to keep it "street" worthy. |

get rid of the stock bumpers they are too plastic (IMO), a lift is also a good thing. you can get a small lift (like 2" or 3") for pretty cheap. you can get some new m/t or a/t's, something with a little more aggressive tread will make a world of difference off road. I have a 2" lift on my tj and i couldn't even tell the difference between that and the stock ride quality. i'm pretty sure the JK comes stock with 32" tires, so a small lift should allow for at least 33's. look around on the the pics section or online in general you can get some pretty good ideas of what to or not to do depending on what you like.

1. find a local 4x4 club
2. Find out when a starter trail run is
3. Go on it and see how much you like it or ride along if you don't want to take your jeep yet.
4. Then report back on what you liked or didn't..then we can build from there.

Allll right.. Now we're talking. I'll look for new bumpers, look at the lift kit, and there is a local club around here (CHAOS) and some of our friends are in it, so it won't be hard to get a test ride.
Thanks ya'll. I think I'm gonna like it here. |

If it is not a Rubicon, and you plan on doing even moderate off roading,, a set of front sway bar disconnects are a must to allow the Jeep to articulate over obstacles.
I plan on getting the Tereflex for my Jeep.. They are relatively cheap.. Teraflex 001753010 - TeraFlex Front Swaybar Quick Disconnects for 07-09 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec
I like the Shrockworks bumpers, but don't plan on changing my bumpers any time soon, figure I may wait until I damage the stock ones. Jeep Front Bumpers-Jeep Winch Bumpers & Jeep Front Bumper
You don't really need a lift kit until you are ready to put tires over 33in on.
Do you already have the front tow hooks?, Do you have rear tow hooks or the receiver hitch? If you go off road and get stuck, you need some place to attach the tow straps so you can get out..
If you plan on wheeling with a group, most require you carry a fire extinguisher and have at least a portable CB radio.

Thanks.
The prices on those parts aren't as bad as I thought they'd be. I already have the fire extinguisher (hubby's a fireman...lol), but not a CB radio yet. It has the tow hooks and towing package. Would I come out better just getting the bumper with the winch than depending in tow straps?
Oh, and are these parts that I can add myself (short for getting the hubby to do it) or do I have to do somewhere to get it done?

Pace yourself with your mods. Every farkle has its purpose and different aftermarket companies excel in different areas.
Comb the websites and look at what other owners have done. Then relate their choices to your own needs/wants/lusts.
Start with the things that make ownership safer, move to comfort, then to radical.
That said, I'd start with the cb.
Have fun too. The JK will do amazing things purely stock.

If your hubby is into cars at all he will probably have a great time adding all the options for you, the down side is: he will probably also tell you he needs to "test drive it" for days after each mod.
here is the CB I'm thinking about 75 WX ST - Cobra® 75 WX ST Compact/Remote Mount CB Radio - Quadratec
