Looking to Purchase my 1st Jeep

Hey, I'm looking for some help here. I have an opportunity to purchase my first jeep. It's a Jeep Wrangler 1989 2.5 4cyl 105,000 miles,,,, new tire and alternator doesn’t smoke,,, and runs pretty good,, they guy wanted 3500.00 and I talked him down to 2800.00,,,, little or no rust good top... (Soft). I've always wanted one but wanted to make sure my eagerness to own a Jeep was not taking over my brain,,, can you folks give me any feedback and maybe a few known things to look for,,,,

Ok, I got that much. What I was hoping for was maybe some tips or some guidance on things known (to jeep owners) that I may want to look for. Not being a Prior Jeep owner I know there may something I am not looking for that could cost me a lot of money down the road.
