| Message on Dash
Ok maybe it's because i'm sleep deprived and missing it in the owners manual but I have a change oil message on my dash. I had the Jeep dealership change my oil at 3,000 miles, and I now have 5500 miles. Is this just a normal reminder or is something wrong. (I know stupid question, but this is my first Jeep and I want to make sure it has many more adventures!)
Which brings me to my next question in the past I have brought my Eclipse to Jiify Lube and have used only synthetic oil and now Iuse a blend oil. Any recommendations on oil type? Thanks a lot.

Have you read your owners manual to see how to reset it?

The oil reminder comes on 500 miles before the set point. The set point can be changed to 6000 miles at the dealer. That is what mine is set to. It comes on at 5500 miles. The reminder will come on earlier under certain conditions that is programmed into the algorithm.

What year do you have? The '09s are duty cycle best and cannot be set for intervals by the user. You can only clear the message. To do this you must turn the key to the on position without starting the vehicle. Fully depress the accelerator 3 times within 10 seconds and then turn the key to the off position. When you next start the vehicle the message will be gone.

I'm a big believer in MOBIL1 synthetic. Ran it from the first oil change in my Suburban, and it had over 328k on the all original motor when I sold it. My brother, who is a mechanic for a dealership, seems to think it's a waste of money. According to him, you can use cheap oil, as long as you keep up with your oil changes. (Of course he also changes his spark plugs every 10k on his car......)
