I have seen this type of dash top on Ebay and wondered if anyone has replaced theirs with a more functional dash top? If so, how difficult is it to remove/install the old/new part?

15 seconds. Get a small screw driver and slide it in the back (next to the glass) and pry up. There are only two clips on the back the front just slides over a lip.

This is the only one I've seen. If there are more I'd love to know about them. I'm looking to mount my GPS (looking to purchase it also) there.

Okay. Ordered. Hopefully it will install as the OEM and be functional to boot.

Installed and it's great. Gives the otherwise useless dash center top purpose and use. Installed the GPS and still have room for cell phone and sunglasses.

Yes it was. Thanks. Comes with excellent instructions too. Really gives a little "extra" room in a vehicle that has few places to set things. I really dislike anything stuck to my windshield and I wanted it for the nav. system.

I have one of those as well and have had only one problem....when I put my cell phone up there, the compass quits working after awhile. It just shuts off but will come back on when you restart the Jeep. Simple solution is...I don't out my cell phone on the thing. I was easy to install though, you'll have to install the compass module onto the bottom of the thing, hence why my cell makes it act up.

Is it a diff. color than the panel around the radio.etc?
