| Owned my JK for 1 day and wondering...
So I bought my 07 JK 2 DR yesterday. Obviously I already love it, but there is one little problem that's got me a bit irked:
The security system activates when the door is open and the power locks are used. Since I only have a manual key and no remote unlock feature, I can't open the door without setting off the alarm. This only happens if I use the power locks, not the manual ones.
It's pretty annoying considering using the power locks works quickly for both doors, and passengers don't understand why I keep telling them not to use power locks.
Is anyone having the same problems? Thanks in advance!

Well I'm thinking the CarMax might not have given me the remote key, because I (and my neighbors) know that there's an alarm on the car.
Sounds like I should be giving the Carmax a call!

Sounds like I should be giving the Carmax a call! | Welcome Aboard, Shipmate! X2!!! If you've got an Alarm, then you should have the Key Fob Remote. I wonder what Carmax did with the Remotes, and did they ever get them from the previous owner?
You may have to get your local Jeep Dealer to either disconnect the Alarm, or provide you with a pair of Remotes.
I'm not sure about the '07's, but my '09 came with Power Locks too, and when you hit 15mph on the Speedo, the Doors Automatically Lock. This could cause you problems as well, without the Remote(s).
Besides this glitch, how're you likin' it? Pics??? We need pics! What Model & Color did you buy? CONGRATS!!!
Best of Luck!
Cheers!

Yeah I was completely surprised when it went off the first time! I had no idea it was coming with a security system. In my old TJ, the security system was whatever you could fit into the locking console.
Resoultion: After calling CarMax, turns out I was supposed to get a fob, but they 'misplaced' it. So I have to drive the 40 miles back there and wait on them to fix it. I'd like it much more if the whole system was done away with, but it sounds silly to deny a bit of extra security.
As for the request for pics, consider you wish granted:
It's an 07 with 16K, got it for $19,000. Totally stock, so I look at it as a blank canvas which will suck up my money to customize and improve:
Suggestions for mods always welcome!

Suggestions for mods always welcome! | I've taken delivery of two new Sahara's Unlimited within 9 months of each other, the second was a replacement vehicle from Chrysler. They were both delivered with two keys that had a built in "key fob". Check out the price of a new key programmed by the dealer. I think the unprogrammed price is $160.00 and the programmed price was over $200.00. I have looked aftermarket and the prices are still ouch ouch ouch. You should be getting two keys with the built in controls for the alarm/locks otherwise they have ripped you off. That is what the jeep was delivered with new. Don't let them try and convince you otherwise.

BTW, I'm kinda partial to your user name on the forum.
Good luck with CarMax.

I used my fingernail on the first 08 that I had to get the dealer sticker off. I asked them not to put it on the second 08 and they obliged me. Besides, they gave me a spare tire cover with their name on it. They get enough advertising out of me and I gladly give it to them. They have been a good dealer. This is my fourth car with this family of dealerships. I just don't like them putting anything on the paint. I don't do bumper stickers either.
