FlexSeal is nothing more than Rubberized Undercoating repackaged.
I'm trying it on a set of light housings.
So is it tougher than plasti-dip? I'd imagine the trade off for "tougher" would be "tougher to peel off" as well, but it looks to be another quasi-permanent option.

I'll have to let you know after it dries, but if it's anything like the stuff the PO used on the underside of my jeep its going to be rubber like. Thick, heavy and it never gets hard. You can dig your fingernail into it but it won't come off in a peeling fashion like Plasti Dip.

Lol yea, the guys were joking if I rolled it, at least the rescue helicopter could find me easy.

You and those fruity other jeep colors i.e. orange mango tango bango, crush..etc

I kid of course, there isn't a color I don't like on jeeps. Each is it's own thing.
True story.

I rolled mine with the liquid version due to the stripes we get spraying with the spray can
Blackops, how is your hood holding up with regards to heat? In all seriousness I am thinking in a totally different direction. My (formerly my wife's) coffee mug has been through the dishwasher several times and it still looks great. The reason I ask about heat is that I am seriously thinking about doing a shotgun with this stuff. Then I wouldn't have to clean the metal surfaces.... There really is no end to the applications for this stuff.

so far so good....

Everyone has their own opinion, but I have had success with it. In all fairness, its only been on for a month, but hasn't chipped or peeled off my bumpers or flares. I bought more to go on the hardtop. Plasti-dip for hinges and what not

Anyone else have trouble with the hood? I tried to do a stripe down my hood and it turned out bumpy in spots.

I had the strip issue when I first painted mine. Then I thought "what about 'rolling it'? So I did and it made it look awesome! I bought the liquid version in a can and just poured it on and rolled it with a mini-roller. Cake!

To MickeyYJ: Maybe it's a model thing because my JK hood hasn't melted my plastidip at all and I live in hot-ass GA.

Did my hood and windshield frame, I am not a fan after it has been done, going to take it off haha. I couldn't get the lines clean and even enough for my taste
Oh wow lol ya I'd peel it off ASAP lmao
Heres how I did mine .... Again.
Need to retouch it cause since the hood is hot... And the spray is plastic.... It kinda melts away over time I guess..

The result:

Not great but I like it better than urs lmao jk

To make the corners round, use little strips of tape over each over at different angles till u see a nice round outline and repeat and try to do the other corners round angle similar.
(..not really...)

I wonder how it would hold up if used in the interior rather than doing roll on liner. Or if it would stick ok without sanding.
It's not very good. I have it on my passenger footwell, since that area started to get damp after rain storms and I pulled the carpet. It'll be fine until I get around to applying liner, but it wore through in spots after a week or so just from the pressure of the rubber floor mat.

Did my drivers' side wheels today. Didn't have time to finish the other side. A couple things I noticed:

1) couldn't get the baseball card/3x5 card trick to work. Wind just laughed at me. Finally just used painters tape.

2) painter's tape won't stick to a wet tire

3) when i peeled the painter's tape off, i got a couple of edges where it started to lift away from the rim. i don't know the answer to this?? maybe use a razor to cut the edge where you take the tape off (carefully)?? I don't know.

4) i covered the lug nuts in tape, then put them over their corresponding holes. This worked awesome, and i like the silver lug nuts look.

5) the wind makes it tough. maybe next time i'll do it in the garage? But then it won't dry as fast.

I also removed the "Sahara" sticker. The tan sticker just looked out of place. Then I took off the stock radio antenna, it was just too floppy while driving around and driving me nuts. I'll replace it with one of those black plastic ones.

What do you guys think? I think it looks pretty good, all things considered. The other side will go faster. It will look great when its all done. I hope it lasts because i don't really want to do it again for a while :)

For the bezels and stuff, just clean them well, and then wipe them down with alcohol. As for coats, I'd do 5 for anything that is in the front of the Jeep (gets pelted with rocks) and 4-5 for anything else.

For turn signals, I do not recommend Plastidip. Use a product that was designed for lighting, VHT Nightshades.

Thanks! I'll look for something for the lights at autozone. :thumb:

First, thanks to all who posted great tips on here. Now that I'm back at work today, I have a chance to post. This weekend I did my hinges, both door and hood. Unfortunately I only go one pic, but I think it gives a pretty good idea. Came out nice, lines are not PERFECTLY even from the tape (if someone was OCD about it this would not suffice), but it's ok for me. can't really tell from more than 3 feet out that the lines aren't perfect.

Next up is my fender flares and possibly my rims, still trying to decide on that.
