I'm new to the forum. I have a 08 JK unlimited and looking to get a 3" lift kit. I was looking at the teraflex 3" kit. want to know how dependable they are and any other info on it would be nice.

I know more than one person running TF components and they all have good things to say about em. As for customer service, see for yourself. Give em a call and start asking questions. If they don't give you the time of day, hang up.

Peoples have a lot of different opinions about lifts. I've heard a lot of good about OME lift kits. Google it and see what you come up with. So far I'm leaning OME.

In my experience, TF have been great to deal with & they have a good reputation. The lift kits are popular & I have heard no complaints. I didn't buy my lift from them but did get front & rear bars & my winch, I hit them for a discount & they were only to happy to give me something off

This is all good. I've heard the same about OME. I've called them and been treated well about all of my questions. So, it comes down to service AND price AND product/kit quality. These things are very difficult to judge especially from folks who generally base their opinions on their one sided viewpoint of a single purchase and not trying them all out on several vehicles. Most of us don't have the money to purchase several vehicles and put different lift kits on them and then hop from one to the other on the same four wheel run to try-em all out. Thus my opinion, you need to call up the competitors and get a feel for them, and use as many sources as possible on the web knowing full well that most are biased toward their own installation. Most people will be quick to point out the difficulties they have had with a particular lift install. Or they may comment on the ride compared to their buddies' buggy with the competitor's product in it. All of this can be very confusing and it requires a lot of time and effort to begin to formulate an opinion of your own.

I have compared Rock Crawler to OME and the OME prices are lower but it is hard to compare especially if they recommend different components. But, so far I've heard only good things about OME. Unless TF has some really good prices for their kits, I'm still leaning OME.

I have an auto unlimited so if i go with a 3" lift do i really need to regear it. If so what gears to use. I am getting 35's off a buddy of mine. Is their anything else I would have to do with a 3" lift.

I'll agree with ya on that one. Some of the prices on TF stuff is insane. I've also heard excellent things about both Rock Crawler and OME. I'll be looking into an entry level RC setup myself.

What gears do you currently have?

If you have a Rubicon for instance you could probably get away without re-gearing with 35s.

The larger the tire, the more likely you will want to re-gear. Since re-gearing is expensive, people usually weigh this option carefully. Most jeepers re-gear if they are serious about wheeling. In my opinion, it is mostly about the torque and the wheel speed while crawling that makes the major consideration in the decision.

I have a 4 door Sahara and i think the gears r 3:21. I go off roading about once a month. I would like to keep this whole mod under $3,500. Does anybody know how much regearing would cost.

Roughly $1500 +/- depending on who you go with and your area.
