Hi guys,
I know there's about 1,000 posts pertaining to leaks, but i've yet to come across one that is similar to what i'm experiencing. I've got a 2007 4door X with a soft top that I just picked up last week, I checked it for the A-Pillar leak when I bought it and there were no drips. However, after washing the jeep yesterday I noticed the floor pans on the drivers and passengers side front seats were completely soaked. The center of the wetness seems to be coming from directly in the center of the floor pan and radiating out from there... There's no signs of water coming in from the a-pilar atleast in terms of drips, or water on the doors, but the wetness does spread the entire way over to that side of the floor pan. The wetness doesn't spread the whole way to the other side by the center console/shifter area, and it also does not spread the entire way up the front under the dash. I checked under the dash and around the doors as best i could w/out taking **** apart looking for any signs of water and found none. I can't figure out where its coming from, I guess I should remove the carpet and get in and watch but wanted to see if anyone else had encountered/fixed this problem before. Also, please note this was not a carwash, so it couldn't have possible come up from underneath...just me and my garden hose in the driveway. thanks again! Josh |

I have had leaks with my 07 4 door x since I got it.
Lots replaced and thought it was fixed till torrential rains came. Standing water in my driver floor board.... no idea where it came from, nor was back seat floor wet. I'll be interested to see what else you hear on this thread!

Ditto on that. I have an 07 four door and the front floor mats stay soaked. We removed the plugs under the mats, but they just stay wet all the time anyway.

mine is a yj so not sure if this helps but water would run out from dash after a good rain. found that there is a drain for the vent on cowl under the hood whichs was really clogged and filling cowl vent to overflow into cab. maybe something to look at.

So i went out today, removed the front carpet and found that the boards in the drivers floor pan were just damp, presumably because the carpet soaked it all up, while there was about 1/8" standing water on the passenger floor boards. All this came from me washing the jeep yesterday afternoon. After I vacummed it all up, checked all the seals, I went out with the Hose (and wife in the jeep) determined to find where I could force water in...
round 1 with the hose revealed that water was leaking into the drivers side floor pan when the hose was run (low pressure "shower" setting) on the driver side wiper by the whole where it connects into the body...not sure where its going after it runs through there to get into the jeep but it ends up on the drivers floor boards about 60 seconds after the water starts running there...my guess is it might be coming through the firewall by the steering column but i'll have to take the cowl off this weekend and have a closer look. As for the passenger side, 15 minutes with the hose run everywhere, doors, hood vent, wiper mount, windshield, header, a pillar, etc and I couldn't get the bitch to leak...yet a routine carwash yesterday produced 1/8" of standing water....maybe i didn't have the door closed tightly??? we'll see..... |

I drove a 90 YJ for 10 years and it never leaked a drop ... however that does seem to mesh with my findings on the drivers side...i'll know more once I have time to take the cowl off this weekend.

Tops been up and down a few times lately as we've had rain at nights...each time it seems like the water has come in somewhere different...i've followed the instructions to a T each time and the top has gone down and up the exact same way...could there be something wrong with the top itself? The newest leak i've not yet experienced is right in the center of the top, drips down on the shifter.
Has anybody successfully gotten the dealer to replace a top under warranty? Is the top covered for the full 3 yrs / 36,000 mi? How many hoops did you have to jump through? I'm taking it into the stealership next week to meet their "leak guy" but what the heck am i supposed to tell him is leaking if its seemingly different each day? |

before you take it in try getting some lithium grease then clean all the seals really good and rub some grease on all the seals evenly ive heard it said by a lot of smart people on this site about leaking issues i think it is pretty cheap but im not too sure ive never bought it myself just an idea i know how much of a pain the dealership can be

I have an 07 4dr and the top has yet to leak. I don't have power windows and noticed the windows dropped during the winter when I had the doors on. They didn't drop enough to appear open but enough to allow water in when I brought it through the car wash. I was lucky enough to be in the car and catch it before too much water got in. Now I always have to roll them up an 8th of an inch when I wash it.

I have leaks so I took out all of there carpet and floor pans plugs and Herculined from the tailgate to the foot wells right below the dash. Still leaks once in a while but my floor is rust proof and all water rolls out the holes in the floor.
