I have an '09 stock X 6-speed and have no complaints. This is my third wrangler, too.
Many complaints tend to revolve around the gas mileage, but others have had issues with the soft top leaking or the manual transmission popping out of gear. I have honestly had no issues with mine (nor with my previous jeeps). As far as gas mileage, it's pretty obvious before you buy one that they're not aerodynamic; I doubt anyone on this forum buys a jeep because of its epa mileage rating (perhaps...[I]in spite[I] of it)!
I wouldn't want to be driving anything else!!

You can fit 33's with no lift
The Freedom top is really nice, being able to remove the panels is a great thing, i love it.
Fuel tank is protected by a skidplate(something my 99 TJ never came with), now if only they would locate the fuel vapor canister right next to the fuel tank so that it too would be protected. Funny how the fuel evap canister was located under the hood in the engine compartment on previous Jeeps(TJ) and now it's right in the middle of harm's way on the JK Sure, it's easier to install because all the fuel plumbing is in that area but..... It's an off-road vehicle, everything should be tought out to be protected |

Let's see, it's taken us to FL, GA (obviously), SC, NC, TN, KY, IL, MO, AR, OK, MS, KS, NE, IA, CO, NM, SD, WY, MT, Alberta, & BC. In the first year.
It's let us see the world from pig trails and forest roads, the pristine reality, the naked planet.
It's allowed us to live life. Not watch it on TV.

I have quite afew complaints about my 09 JK Rubicon but I would also still say this Jeep, like the others I have had, is the most fun vehicle I have ever owned.
I will say this though. I wouldn't want a JK as my ONLY vehicle.

Ditto. I luv everything about it!
1. My number one favorite thing about the JK? It is the only vehicle I own that I can park wherever I want to and not feel like some numbnut will ding my doors. The floorboards are great body side moldings.
2. If Nostradamus would ever be correct in his prognostications, the JK would be the only vehicle I would trust to get me to a safer place.
3. The JK is the Swiss Army Knife of cars. It'll do just about anything...
Best,
BB

"The Swiss army knife of cars" That's a good one I like it.
IMHO it is really sad that Jeep D/C didn't spend a little extra time and money to build a more quality vehicle. For all the warranty issues and buy backs I would think they would want to build a more quality product.
You would think they would be of better quality considering what they charge for these things. The JK's must have the highest profit margine of any vehicle D/C makes, especially the 2dr JK.

I like the swiss army knife of vehicles. Ditto on that.
Hilldweller, you're my hero. When I retire (8-10 yrs) I hope to get out to as many places as you have been with yours. Maybe once the nest is empty I can plan a lot more outings.
Like the others I like everything between the bumpers and including the bumpers.

| I can go over 300 miles on a tank of gas, then immediately drive in snow/rocks/mud/shale hills/creeks
Sleep in back (without trailer), take the "T" tops off at any time, whole top comes off ,(I miss my 1974 Dodge Ramcharger)
Very quiet, even temp, Top on(mods)
Probably most important-my wife can drive it on/off road and couldn't before
Retains very high resale value, especially now that rumor has it that 2010 will be the last Rubi "unlimited"
I've had a bunch of 4wd's and this is the BEST all around JIMBO

I think the complaints you see are the result of passionate feelings for a vehicle that people really like.
I own a Honda, but have absolutely no idea of what the aftermarket stuff is for it, or what Honda's plans are for new colors next year, or what the best tires might be. I'm sure there are some passionate Honda owners out there, but I ain't one.
You see the same thing with sports teams, where people get inflamed about minor things. Or pick apart the latest album from their favorite artist, or complain about the sequel to a favorite movie. Once we become passionate about something, we feel like we've earned the right to be involved and picky.

This is my first post. I had to come out of lurker mode to say I love my JK. We had a Cherokee, and I loved it. This is by far the most fun vehicle I have ever owned. It's quirks just give it character.

First Jeep was a 04 Rubi (traded for a sports car...yes I know...STUPID!!!), once I had the car, I bought a 93 Wrangler S...really fun to drive in town and just to get out and beat around in....Sold it, and only had the car. Then all of a sudden, I got Jeep fever and wanted another one. Tried to get a 06 Rubi with ARB bumpers, Ramsey winch, and a slew of other mods, but the dealer didn't want to work for a deal. With that being said, I kept searching, and what did I find...a 2007 Rubi with 11k miles on it. I absolutely love my JK Rubi. I want to get out and travel with my JK...screw the fuel economy...that is what power programmers are for, LOL!!! I will JK it for a long time to come, and will definitely buy another one when the times come!!!!

I've had my "new to me" 2007 Sahara for three months and I like all of it.
We actually bought it for a "toad" for our motor home, but I have ended up driving it as my every day wheels. It is saving miles on our now extinct 2005 PT Cruiser convertible.
I am a Jeep convert for sure.

But most talk is negitive, I have owned my 2009 Sahara Unlimited for 5 months, put 13700 kms on it and love it. No problems at all. But after reading most threads I was wondering if I made the right choice. So if people don't start showing some love for their JK's this will be my ONE and ONLY thread !!!!!

People love their jeeps so much around here that, if you read the posts carefully, you will see that even whilst they complain about this or that the love just shines right through. Sure, it is fun to kick Chrysler now and then...well...maybe often but try and kick a guy's jeep and you will see the love first hand (closed). So I say spread some love about your jeep.
I love all that is between the bumpers...including the bumpers.

jk'n:
Just the PT Cruiser convertibles became extinct this year--victim of the Fiat takeover/bailout. Our 05 PT only has 34K miles, but has been towed another 20K behind the motor home. We towed the PT on a dolly so only the rear wheels were moving.
