Yakima Rack for 08 Freedom Top-carrying kayaks

I'm been researching what kind of somewhat inexpensive roof rack for an 08 Freedom Top to carry a couple of small kayaks. I see the Yakima Control Towers fit. Anyone know how they fit? Are there grooves on the top? I've only seen the Control Towers online, it appears they are suppose to fit into a groove. I don't really want to spend $500+ for some of the other racks, just to carry a couple of kayaks no more than 6-8 times a year. Thanks

I think if you do a search here (or the other JK forums) for "Yakima" or "kayak", you'll find what you're looking for. But keep in mind that the Freedom Top is not rating for carrying any load.

I'm in the same boat (get it? Boat!) , looking for a secure way to haul my tandem touring 'yak, and have come across two options I'm considering:

1) the Yakima Dry Dock in the rear and the Warrior light bar in the front

or

2) the Congo Cage from Kargomaster.

Still trying to decide. There have been some issues with the cage, so I'm leaning towards the Yakima, but we'll see.

tdrew - thanks, I was also thinking about the Dry Dock and the light bar. Keep most posted if you decide to give this a try.
