I found a 07 loaded Wrangler X Jeep Green And I want it really bad!!. Ive wanted a Wrangler for 10 years now. That being said. My trade in is my Ford Ranger 2004 4.0 4*4 which is loaded with low miles, with lots ad ons. I owe 8,400 on it, blue book is around 13,900. I wont take any less. So Im expecting around 5500 towards the new Wrangler after trade in. I hate to get rid of my beloved Ranger, but Icould always put a hitch on the Wrangler and pull a small utility trailer? Im torn......Do I pay off my Ranger keep it, and then wait another AGONIZING 2 years to get a Wrangler? That way Id have the best of both worlds. Or do I kick the Ford out of the nest and never look back?

If your Ranger is worth that much - why not sell it private party and use that twords the Jeep?

I guess because selling vehicle that you dont hold the title to kinda seems like a huge pain in the ass. For both parties. Its not like im asking a few hundred dollars for the Ranger....I could be wrong just what im figuring...

I have the Ranger XLT, and a TJ. Momma drives the Ranger!
Since we got the TJ last Spring, the Ranger (which was MY truck) got put in the "back seat". I don't think it would work too well with the TJ being our only vehicle, but it IS our favorite!

Ive had a 4 cylinder 2.3 litre Ranger, with 8 spark plugs, and I absolutly love them for the bed but I enjoy my 2007 Wrangler X the acceleration is better and the vhicle is just a little cooler--if cooler is a word. You said that blue book for the rangler is 13900 that is just an estimate and in my opinion it will be hard to get that from the dealer try to get as close at possible for the Ranger 13900 stand your ground and don't back off, tell them that you will visit other dealers if the number for your wrangler is not right. Some dealers that wish to make the sell will actually give you slightly more for the vehicle that you are trading in but they are rare.
Or you could finnish paying off your ranger and sell it for more as a private party sell.
O r your could trade it in, it doen't seem that there will be any negative equity so either way-if you finance the wrangler the payments will be OK. your in a good sitiation for both vehicles are swell.

Also, if you haven't already, call your bank and get an exact payoff. Most times people expect their payoff to be one number and then when we get the actual payoff, it's like a grand higher because of interest. That may sway your decision one way or the other. Also keep in mind that Excellent condition means no blemishes or wear whatsoever. It has to look and operate like it just came off the showroom floor.
